Question to Poles about Possible Polish Marines?

Um I was just on the web and I read a dicussion about GROM and one guy mentioned that with British and US help Poland wants to establish its own marines. Is this true? If so anyone got anymore info about this? Im not even sure its true I just read it in some discussion.

I think it`s only a gossip.

Do we really need marines? No, `cos our location excludes marine operations... Unless we decide to invade tax-free shops at Gotland :D

There is no need to create expensive marine units only for peace/CT ops along with allies. IMHO, the right way is to have more excercises with USMC/RM, and to have one division trained to cooperate with marine forces, including landing ops.

But if someone in our coutry thinks of buying LHCs, ACACs, and all the stuff necessary to create marine forces...... :cantbeli:

Wel, in fact we are goin to have a marine unit.
Right now they talk about one batallion.
It will be a part of our NAVY.
But it is the matter of 2-3 years from now.

Ok im still confused is it gossip or the real deal here. I rather have better guns for all troops then have a marine unit. Marine unit implies that we wanna invade somewhere...hhmm not sure if we really wanna do that or if government has plans to actually invade. Like Chiris said good idea to just put money else where like NEW GUNS, or attack choppers. Maybe in 10 - 15 years when we got money then we should only begin thinking about it.

If this is real what costws are we looking at. Do marine units cost more and why?

well u heard rumors about that and AFAIK there were nawy infantry unit in warsaw pact but it was disbanded... in 90's
