UAVs crash, that's a fact of life. SO the real number is 79. Not bad.

Why just Operation Iraqi Freedom there, ode? Why not conflicts in Chechnya, Israeli/Palestinian conflicts, and etc? Trying to prove how inefficient U.S. hardware is?

Can't help but noticed your little pattern from the other threads.

The vast majority of those were due to mechanical, training, and frendly fire accidents.

Helicopters get smacked down by enemy forces where ever they fly at about the same rate, regardless of the country flying them.

UAVs are designed to be expedible. That's the whole point of not putting a pilot in.

--cept that one pre-preduction Predator that they didn't have anything to do with because it wasn't compatable with any other Predator equipment. They didn't want to simply scrap it, so they decided to have some fun. They flew it over Baghdad to see how long they could make it last. 33 hours later, it was still flying with AAA and SAMs fired at it the whole time.

It ran out of gas and the 'pilot' crashed it into a river bank.

The Iraqis considered it a kill and danced around it.

10 planes lost?

Lemme count off the top of my noggin:

During the war:
1 x F-15E (unk reason 2 KIA), 1 x F/A-18 (USA Patriot 1 KIA), 1 x UK GR4 (USA Patriot 2 KIA), 1 x F-14B (motor(s), 2 saves), 1 x A-10 (Manpad / AAA, 1 save)

Post war:
1 x F-16C (motor, 1 save) - funny thing, all the exercises that occured in both ONW / OSW for rescue were a motor crapping out on a F-16, but it didn't happen till after the war... 11 years with no major motor issues - then one a few months later, crazy.

That's only 6.

But I was deployed for the last 6 months supporting another AOR, so I might have missed more losses...

Why so paranoid? Not everyone are out to get you.

I find the info informative, but I didn't see it as hostile intent aimed at the US...

SOunds exagerated to me. I reckon we lost about 6 or 7 fixed wings and about 12-15 helicopters.

And UAV's definately dont count. They are supposed to be expendible.

The official count for US helicopters lost in combat for Op Iraqi Freedom in which I read Friday is 15. 2 CH-46s, 3 AH-64s, 6 UH-60s, 2 OH-58s, 1 CH-47, and 1 AH-1W. Total KIA's to go along with that are 76.
