This is from the RIAT last weekend,

Some colleagues of mine were there and considering the rate it was descending they were actually expecting it to crash.

I was there too.

That was taken at the practice on the Friday though, the main airshow was Saturday and Sunday.

Didn't stop the Sun from reporting it as "a near disaster watched by thousands of horrified spectators" :cantbeli:

Incident looked very similar to the one which ended with a crash for a USAF Thunderbirds F-16 during a display in Texas (or something like that) some time ago.
Looked like the angle of attack of the wing of the aircraft on the wind was too great to generate the neccessary lift for the uptaking phase of the loop (is that what's called an "accellerated stall" in pilot lingo?).
