Mortars, was it not artillery? I´ve read somewhere that it was 105 mm artillery. But that sounds strange as well, why should the talibans with all russian equipment have 105 mm artillery?

I'm pretty sure it was a Mortar attack on the base...Then we responded with mortars or arty .

The rounds hitting the base aren't even remote close to be arty round explotions . Simple mortar rounds , probably not something bigger then 82mm . Besides it , the fact that soldiers don't remotly know how to act on indirect weapon attack is problematic . The base itself have no ATGM cubicals , and indirect weapon cubicals . And the fact , that the mortars aren't answering to the source of the fire itself is problematic .

I wouldn't know about that since I don't know those critics, all I can say is that I had some of the same reactions when I was fired upon like that in Croatia (sort of laughing, although knowing that this was a potentially lethal situation).
I plan on posting some of my recordings in the near future.
