View Full Version : Macedonian Contingent in Iraq

Next in a series. ;)

Actually, it should be "contingents" - a replacement for Macedonia's first contingent is already on the ground. The Macedonian contribution is primarily a platoon-sized element of special operations forces, along with some specialists in EOD and the like.

Pre-deployment training:

badass...

Not often do i see front-line infantry carrying MP-5's.

Also, their uniforms look similar to ours.

Dave the Dawg
01-12-2004, 10:47 PM
They are not infantry; they are members of a Macedonian special operations unit known as the "Wolves".

Falco
01-12-2004, 10:58 PM
why the fourth infantry patches on their shoulders?

Nizark

Did we train them at all? How about interoperability with US forces?

Dave the Dawg
01-12-2004, 11:12 PM
Presumably, having been attached to 4ID while in Iraq, they were given them as an indicator of combat service with that unit. They are wearing the patch as a US Army soldier would wear a combat patch. Why the ARM (Macedonian armed forces) lets them wear them, I don't know. Probably for the same reason the 82nd Airborne wears the French Croix de Guerre fourragere as a unit citation and that Legion unit (sorry, can't remember which one) wears the US Presidential Unit Citation.

that Legion unit (sorry, can't remember which one) wears the US Presidential Unit Citation.

2e REP, I believe.

Also, one of the Macedonian officers is US airborne- and Special Forces-tabbed.

Hey , dave the dog, why is that one soldier wearing a US Army (Special Forces) Tab and (Airborne) Tab?

1. Did he work with the USArmy SF in Iraq?
2. Or did he attend the US Army SFAS/Q-Course @ Fort Bragg, N.C?

**Note** in the US Army only soldiers who have completed the Q-course can wear the SF tab over the Special Forces shoulder sleeve insignia (unit patch). And the Airborne tab is a part of the soldier sleeve insignia. i.e you will only see it worn above the 82nd Abn Div, 101st Abn Div an SF Group shoulder patches.

So what gives?

Duuuuuhh, sorry dave, should have read your profile first! You knew all that!

Hey everyone! notice these soldiers are carring the former Yugoslav
M-80A rifles. ( flash suppressor and straighter magazines give them away!) These were made in 5.56x45mm round for export. Although Zastava didn' get any sales with this model.

Interesting to see them finally in use! I didnt think they (Zastava) had made more than just some sample models!

While what you have written here may or may not be true, the fact remains that it is not related to the thread which i remind you is titled "Macedonian Contingent in Iraq". I agree with you. But there was a question and i wanted to answer it. I did not give any lecture of history, i just wanted to point out a link to a famous person that will help people find out more about Macedonia. Regarding the other post, i wanted to point out the mistake that one person made, and that is why i again said the real name of my country. If you are some moderator than you should block people like 80 EAN who are offending other members of the forum!!! Movie about the Macedonian soldiers in Iraq?

Three famous US film studios are in talks of creating a movie about the first Macedonian contingent in Iraq. The movie will be action packed, based on true events, for which a book has been written.

The book had been written first as a diary by Metodi Hadzi Janev, a professional soldier in the ARM, but was later transformed into a book.

The film has strong support among the US film studios, though their names are not released by the Macedonian side because of the sensitivity in the talks.

The focus will be on the Macedonian contingent arriving on Iraqi soil in 2003, with the time frame being from June 2003 to December 2003. During this period, the Macedonian contingent was engaged in half a dozen ferocious battles with Iraqi insurgents who had either cornered or surrounded US troops.

The Macedonian elite soldiers, popularly known as "Wolves", had managed to save the US troops during each engagement, without taking any casualties. For their bravery, the US Government had issued several "Wolves" a Federal Medal, the Bronze Star, normally reserved for US soldiers.

The film studios had said that 5 battle scenes will be used in the movie. All battles occurred during the last quarter of 2003. The Macedonian soldiers will be played by US actors, who will learn Macedonian for the movie.

There had been a running joke with the Macedonian soldiers in Iraq who instead of learning English, they preferred to teach the Americans to speak Macedonian.

two sides to fight
no one to stop this BS
both deserve the same bag

you see it is like when two drunk men fight, either you put yourself in the middle and try to know who started the brawl (hopelessly) or you crak the cvnts's heads together to bring back calm
concerning the MK-HEL threads i strongly advocates the second solution, as it is the only one functionning

Macedonian nation was created after 1945 when the Serbian communists took power in the country. Macedonian nation was created with murder with lies and strong propaganda. Before 1945 the whole world know that in Macedonia live mostly Bulgarians! The result of this long regime is visible today. Today in Macedonia lives people in whose veins runs Bulgarian blood, speak the Bulgarian dialect, singing bulgarian songs and have Bulgarian names..
Students in Macedonia studying a fake history. In Macedonian history books says that the Bulgarian army occupied Macedonia but in fact the Bulgarian army during the second world war enter into Macedonia as a liberation army and expel Serb forces from the country. Today the situation in Macedonia is no different. Macedonia today is a museum of Yugoslav communism! And all that I said there are indisputable facts.

Sorry for my bad english :)

So Alexander definitly was not a Slav?

The Slavic peoples are an ethnic and linguistic branch of Indo-European peoples, living mainly in Central and Eastern Europe. From the early 6th century they spread to inhabit most of the Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans.[1] Many settled later in Siberia[2] and Central Asia or emigrated to other parts of the world. Over half of Europe's territory is inhabited by Slavic-speaking communities

Greetings to Macedonian brothers:) truth will prevail !!!
Macedonian brothers I understand that your nation is a young (since 1945) .. but please do not steal Bulgarian history, not steal Bulgarian heroes, do not steal Bulgarian culture, do not steal the Bulgarian language and so on, why? Because we have evidence for every lie of Yugoslav communism. Unfortunately you Macedonians brothers to this day you live in a lie... one large yugo-communist lie. I understand that you do not have owned national heroes. Please do not steal Bulgarian heroes. I understand that the Bulgarian heroes have fought for your freedom because before 1945 you were Bulgarians. But know that those national heroes who today proudly honor some time ago were called Bulgarians! Know that many of your heroes were in the Bulgarian army. These things do not write in your textbooks because your government is afraid to admit the truth but unfortunately for you .. we keep photos, documents and diaries of people fought for your freedom and keep the truth!!!

Actually, until 1941 they were "southern Serbs". They were "Bulgarian" only from 1914-1918 and from 1941-1944.

It can be seen in older peoples documents, before 41 the last name is Pertovich, from 41-44 is Petrov, and originally is Petrovski.

Macedonian side of my family is very offended if you call them Bulgarian. Especially the older people. Of course the same older people laugh at connection with Alexander so there is that. They consider themselves Slavic but call themselves Macedonian.

Self-determination.

Anyway, any more pictures? I rather like Balkan pictures, being of a very mixed descent mostly Yugoslavian. Unfortunately it is not for nothing that there is Balkan Bull**** earning on this forum.

Everyone is free to be Macedonian, Eskimo, Aboriginal, alien or whatever you want .. but when someone wants to be a Macedonian, he must accept the facts as they are. He should know that the Macedonian nation was founded in Belgrade in the early 20 th century on the basis of a geographical name and political targets.
Who wants to be Macedonian must accept that language who speaks is a Bulgarian dialect, must accept that the heroes who fought for the freedom of his people have identified as Bulgarians in all documents such as Todor Aleksandrov, Gotse Delchev , Dame Gruev and Yane Sandanski and more .. must know that brothers Мiladinovi were identified as Bulgarians and unfortunately for the macedonian theory, for this have much evidence.
