Far-right activists instigated a pulsa denura - Aramaic for 'lashes of fire' - death curse against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon last Thursday night in an effort to thwart the upcoming disengagement plan.
The ceremony was held late Thursday night at the gravesite of Shlomo Ben-Yosef, a Betar member who was hanged by the British in 1938 for firing on an Arab bus in protest of numerous attacks by Arabs on Jewish targets.
Twenty married men, including rabbis and kabalists, participated in the ceremony. All 20, including Yosef Dayan - who instigated the same curse several months prior to the assassination of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin - assembled at the gravesite, which is located near Safed.
Each man immersed himself in the mikve (ritual bath) before donning black garb and beginning to chant.
They had received permission to invoke the pulsa denura from a host of rabbis and kabalists, who said it was the appropriate time to resort to using the curse.
Far-right activist Michael Ben-Horin explained that the point of the curse was to exempt a human from having to kill Ariel Sharon, allowing "the angels of destructions" to do it instead.
Baruch Ben Yosef, a far-right activist who participated in the ceremony, told The Jerusalem Post that "The ten men prayed to god for him to rid us of the evil murderous dictator [Sharon].
Ben Yosef said that the gravesite was chosen because, "Shlomo was the antithesis of a Sharon."
"Ben Yosef gave his life for the Jewish people and refused to recognize the British government, while Sharon does everything for himself," Ben Yosef declared.
Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz has decided in the past not to launch criminal investigations into rabbis who have instigated the death curse.
Mazuz's decision was based on a previous court ruling in the matter of Avigdor Askin, in which it was decided that the pulsa denura curse ceremony does not constitute a criminal offense.

Ok, now that I've finished laughing my arse off...
Maybe what they were going for was to kill Sharon by making him laugh so hard when he heard of this that he dies of choking?
On a more serious note... What a bunch of whackjobs. I think that's all that can be said.
The last person being cursed died.
Don't laugh so hard it's not about the curse it self is about the people that whould use the curse as relgion reason.

Maybe they can be arrested for attempted murder, going to full murder charges if Sharon does cop it.

I know, UoUo, I know... I'm quite aware of the things that this act implies (the desire to kill Sharon, perversion of the Jewish religion, etc.), but still...
For whatever reason, this sort of reminds me of when I was younger and went to shul and would peek at the Kohanim doing their blessing. I heard that apparently if you saw them do that symbol with their hands you'd be turned into a block of salt of something cool like that. Well... I'm still waiting :P.
Well i am against killing sharon that for sure but i am also against pulling out those people out of thier homes, for no reasons.
That not like the palstianins whouyld anything with those settelemnts they whould be just a junk yard.

That was the case when the temple was still up the the Kohens have gave their blessings (look what word "shkhina" or "shchina" means) .
Today , no temple , Kohens are not pure , so it's more of simbolic act then the actual blessing itself . It comes more to show the future days when the third temple would be built .
(6 years in religious school ;) ) .

Me too, I'm willing to divulge for a small price.
Joking aside, it is a clear indication of how far the fringe is willing to go. Previously the Israel Supreme Court ruled that this isn't a criminal act in and of itself. Mybe that needs to be re-visited in light of the Rabin assasination and the imminent pullout from Gaza. We know there are a meaningful number of people (a small minority, but they too can be very effective) who don't see the civil government as their supreme source of laws and behavior. They think they answer to a higher authority (apologies to Hebrew National Co.)
UoUo, saying your against kilkling Sharon is a kind of passive commentary; like "it's a shame to step in dog ****." I know you're not an extremist, but think about how that just kind of slipped off your keyboard.
Were it not so serious I'd say its like reading stuff from Harry Potter.
Ok maybe i didn't exspress my self as i should (due my bad english)
I am tootaly against the extrimst and i think that those people that calling for death to sharon should be judge and put in jail.

Well, I'm sure that ESPECIALLY with this public admission to wanting Sharon dead, the Shin Bet (I think it's them that would be covering this, right?) will be all over them if they weren't already. There are probably a few out there who don't feel like waiting for the 30 days to pass and want to take matters into their own hands and speed up the process.
Oh, and I'm only Israel. But like I said, I peeked, and I've also seen an episode or three of Star Trek :P .

Aha, here's exactly what we were saying:
The Shin Bet domestic security service is considering placing leaders of extreme right-wing movements in administrative detention prior to Israel's disengagement from the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank, agency chief Yuval Diskin told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday.
"This is a very violent group of Kahanists and 'hilltop youth' that espouses violent activities and that does not belong to the mainstream of disengagement opposition," Diskin said.
Diskin is of the opinion that administrative detention should only be used in extreme cases in which it would not otherwise be possible to prevent the violent activities of these individuals.
Up until now, the Shin Bet has only placed one extreme right figure, Neria Ofan, in administrative detention.
Diskin told the Knesset committee that the "Shin Bet has boosted its surveillance of extreme right-wing cells working to harm public order and life."
He noted that most pullout opponents are involved in responsible and legitimate protest.

Kinda stupid because by Judahism if the man isn't worthy of the curse since god finds him to be a good man the curse falls back on the people who made it.
