Thanks again.

Looks great, but I can't see buying it unless there's an English version. Beautiful pics aren't of much use to me unless I can read about them. :|

"Russian Army" is bi-lingual, it contains general description of different branches of service and comments for the pictures.

Album about Chechnya is Russian only but there is not much text there.

Both of them are about pictures/visuals, something you might get for your coffee table.

Hey Dima, how do i go about ordering these books ?
I will have them available in about a week.

Yeah, I know that one.

There is a magazine/periodical in Russia called "Оружие" (Weapon) and they have had a special issue dedicated to history and various models of RPG.

It is not the same kind and quality, it is just a soft cover magazine.

You are welcome.

Will you find in "Weapon" some pictures that you haven't seen before - yes, but very few (at least that was in my case).

I think that it is a great magazine with lots of excellent photos and technical information, keep in mind that it is in Russian language.

Just curious, but d'ya still have that ~ Oruzhie/Weapon~ magazine? I was curious if they had any more pics from the RSHG family (I know there's only 1/2) I've only been able to see a few. Anyways, yah, I knew it was all Russian, sucks for me :(

It is called the AIST class in the west.

Replaced in service by the Zubr (known in the west as the Pomornik class).

The latter looks like this:

Nice picture of the AN-94.

Are there any reports as to how reliable it is, given it uses a pretty unusual method of operation?

Nope, the unit on these pictures is the "show team".
Helmets were given to them by the sponsor/manufacturer.

From what I have heard they are better (comfort and protection) than standard issue infantry steel pots but not as good as "Sfera" and "Maska".

What AK-Variant is that?
AK 104, a replacement for AKSU.

When I see the AN-94, One thing comes to my mind. I've never seen a suppressor for it. :|

Catch22
08-20-2005, 11:56 PM
I think "special forces" tab question was asked numerous times on previous occasions when Roman posted pics form various Spetznaz events/qualifications - If I remember well the answer was: To distingush these soldiers in case of international ops (and official presentations to western media).

As for surpressor for AN-94 I doubt if there's a practical use for it (not to mention technical difficulties with eventual subsonic ammo, flashider refitting and so on). Russians have vide range of dedicated, effectively silenced weapons such as VSS Vintorez or AS Val.

Is that an RGN hand grenade the guy with the AN-94 is using?

VaLiancY
08-21-2005, 11:03 PM
Another curious question. I thought AK-100 models were exports. Why is that particular soldier using it or is the answer already posted about the sponsors.

Another question, What are the technical problems with AKS-74uKrinkov? Such a beautiful weapon. :D

Dima-RussianArms

I think it is RGO (because of the "ribs"), although they were doing/showing an assault, so I don't see why they would use defensive grenades, I guess it is just what they had.

In all honesty I am not sure because the upper part/trigger looks like a regular RGD

Dima-RussianArms
08-21-2005, 11:56 PM
Another curious question. I thought AK-100 models were exports.
Yes and no.
It started that way but AK 104 and AK 107( if it gets adopted) are the exceptions.
AK 104 is being introduced in Russia (slowly and in small numbers) as a replacement for AKSU.
AK 104 is almost identical to AKSU except longer barrel and folding plastic stock but has better accuracy.

Another question, What are the technical problems with AKS-74uKrinkov?
AK 104 improves on accuracy and is more "heating up" resistant
Such a beautiful weapon. :D
