Clips (stripper clips) are used to hold ammunition until it is loaded into a magazine.

Over here, a magazine the spring-loaded box that fits into any weapon system, be it a pistol, rifle or LMG. A clip (or more accurately a stripper clip) is a metal strip that holds 10 rounds by the base and is how ammunition is stored in bandoliers. You use a speedloader which fits onto the magazine to charge a magazine from stripper clips.

I thought you brits called stripper clips chargers?
Also, a Garand uses an en bloc clip, not a magazine, just to add some confusion.

Maybe they're officially called magazine chargers, I don't know. I've always called them stripper clips.
Not that you ever get ammo in bandoliers unless you're off on ops. It's always boxed.
Those yank speedloaders are great though. I've managed to get myself one and keep it in my pocket with some elastic cord on to hold it onto the mag. Miles better that our big plastic ones that always snap.

A great cheap source for stripper clips and chargers/spoons, is this guy.
Wu's Surplus Stuff (http://www.angelfire.com/on2/PandaWeb/wupage.html)
For some reason, I purchased 20 chargers/spoons from him :cantbeli:

A clip is an ammo system that the M1 Garand uses. It's a clip of ammo that you actually put in the gun. When the last round is fired, the clip ejects.
THESE ARE CLIPS:

A stripper clip is a row of clipped togeter ammo that you can use to quickly reload a magazine. Basically it's a strip of ammo that you can push into your mag instead of loading one bullet at a time.

Magazines are often called clips by people who are not knowledgeable in firearms. But a clip and a mag are two different things. It dosn't matter if it's a pistol or a rifle they are both called magazines, anyone who calls it a clip is wrong.

And this is normally Feinstein, Kennedy, Kerry, Schuemer, Boxer, Clinton, Brady Bunch and the VPC, there are more but I can't be bothered to list them all.

So is there anywhere I can get hold of an American mag charger in the UK?? Ours are too big and are basically full on dog toffee!!
