View Full Version : Russian OMAN/Spec-ops pics from the Second Chechen War
Hey, do any of you like " 16 obr spn" have photos to post of the most modern Russian special forces in Chechnya. I have many info and photos from the first chechen war but very few from the second. I am very interested in the latest Russian special forces as in what they carry as weapons, what tactics they have developed over the long yearsi nChechnya to combat the insurgency etc.. Any info would be appreciated and Im sure others would like to know as well. Thanx.
This is the largest collection of chechnya photos I have found. I've found various other collections over the last few years, but this one seem to include all those older ones.

I can't tell what is first and second war here though. I think most is second war, but at least a few are from the first war.

wow, you have a nice website. Thanx alot. I LOVE Russian special forces. Most of what I have read about them come from either Afghanistan or Chechnya and mostly I have read about them from the "enemy"
perspective. While your average Russian conscript is often talked about by the Muj or the "bandits" like a little baby seal ready for slaughter, the Russian special units like OMAN, GRU, Spetsnaz, Alpha, etc are almost always respected. Also Russian Marines are feared in Checnya at least. I have another question for "Russian Texan" or "16obr spn": Do you know of any books written by RUSSIAN spec ops about chechnya. Most, err ALL, or what I have is from Chechen side or from a political/historical perspective. I wish to read some on the pure combat aspect of Russian operations in Chechnya. Thanx

Unfortunately all of the books that I know of are in russian. You can try
http://www.artofwar.ru:8101/index_e.html
There are several articles in the "non-fiction" section of the site, if I find something else in english, I'll let you know.
Here is the link to the site that has lots of pictures from both Chechen wars

Hi OBD. Ehh All I can say is that there are books in Russia. But not here in the US. Next summer I plan on getting me self some books. Yeah the marines are feared in Chechnya, as well they should be. Im revising my site, so when my new site comes out, things will be better organized. Maybe I should have a friend of mine send me books here and I could sell them to you!! :D

I have seen similar pictures before, these guys are from MVD (ministry of interior affairs) which translates into no uniform regulations whatsoever and even less money in the budget.
Pipes are not pretty but they do the trick against small arms fire, either that or they have watched too much "Mad Max".
