I was just wondering who started the war in Bosnia. I mean, who commited the first attack against the others community in this ****hole. The muslims bosnian, the serbs bosnian or the croats bosnian ? thank you for you're help.

Oh, boy.
Forgive him, O Lord, for he knows not what he does.
(Sorry, but the answer to this question depends on whom you ask. A Serbian person, like myself, will naturally say that the war was all about defending the rights of ethnic Serbians in areas about to become non-Serbian territory. A Bosnian will say that the war was about defending the sovereign nation of BiH from Serbian aggression. A Croat will argue that the rights of Croatian citizens had to be defended by any and all means. What will ensue once these answers are laid out is a ****storm of always epic proportions, as the respective representatives of the aforementioned ethnicities push their line of thinking.)

Lol, Lokos pwned me :P
Anyways Lokos, the guy asked for facts, not the reasons of the conflict. I think posting facts ain't a problem.
If we stick to facts taken from reliable sources,I think noone can get pissed, right?
Be free to be the first one to post about the topic

LOL. Come on, Inquisitor. The question then becomes 'Whose facts?'.
A fact for me may be that we were the victims. This may, of course, not be a fact for you. Facts are as contextual as opinions.
Feel free to post your interpretation of the war, though. I'm just going to place a disclaimer that stipulates: 'May not be agreed upon by all parties.'

I was once in Zara's shoes. As I said in the other thread, I innocently asked, "So when did the conflict start...?"
My Croat friend started with the splitting of the Roman Empire. Two hours later she had completed the entire story from the Croatian perspective...but mentioned that she left most of the information out, because there wasn't enough time.
It was at that point that I realized that five years of peacekeeping might not be the solution.
Of course, that wasn't nearly as bad as my Kosovar friend who started with the Illyrians...
If you want the entire history of the Balkan conflict...from the beginning...you should probably start with the Slav migration to Europe (what was that, AD 500 or so? I forget).
If you want the last 100 years, there is an incredible amount of information...but remember, the Southern Slavs have an incredible memory, and any apparent trangression by one side in the last 100 years will be answered by "Yes, but _____ commit this atrocity against us in the year _____"
It is a long, long conflict.
Lokos, that was an incredibly intelligent post, and exactly what was needed to hopefully prevent this from becoming a flame-fest.

Yes, I was saved by my cell-phone.
Don't get me wrong, I am interested in the history of the Balkans, and I happen to be a fan of Balkan literature...however at that time I had no idea what I was getting into.
I was certainly not mentally prepared...
I still commit various faux-pas from time to time...I started learning Serbo-Croat in Dalmatia, and there's nothing quite so embarassing as using a Dalmatian term or slang in Belgrade...and having everyone look at you like you have a **** growing out of your head before bursting out laughing... ;)
But hey, live and learn...

Just accept that it's no-ones fault or it's everyones fault :)
The Balkan wars always seem to be too complicated for a discussion on the Internet :)

Lokos, with facts,I mean, showing the attacks that occured, with the corrispondate date.
The guy is asking
I mean, who commited the first attack against the others community in this ****hole.
not asking the reasons or whatelse. And about the reasons,we do have different POVs, everybody knows that.
But about the chronology of the conflict,
May not be agreed upon by all parties.
It was the Serb attack on Croats in the village of Ravno

Thanks, Erik.
Your Croatian friend (was she hot? You can tell me) is quite right. The memories of Balkaners are long enough to be the source of neverending troubles for our respective peoples.

Not really needed in this thread, thanks all the same. I appreciate your opinion, but it is inflammatory, and generally seeks to incite a battle.

Stop. There is no point to argue here. If you were involved in the war, then I understand your feelings and it would be improper of me to ask you to forget and forgive. However, no solution will be reached here. So there is no point to argue. All that will happen if you bring up Vukovar is that the Serbs will bring up the Ustashe, and etc., etc., etc...and eventually this thread will be closed, all the Southern Slavs will be pissed off, and all the non-Slavs will be wondering what the hell is wrong with those crazy people from the Balkans.
So, let's no go there. There is plenty of information that Zara can find on his own as far as a Chronology of events.

She was cute and friendly. Ambitious little thing, too. In fact, there are pictures of her that have been posted on this site... ;)
I don't know, personally I prefer the darker, more sultry types. The Dalmatians just seem a bit...laid back, but with a sudden dramatic twist? (Please, no offense to any Dalmatians!)

The best thing about '96 and stacom, global reach w/out global tracking combined with an NSE in Split within driving distance = "Next 24-48hrs: rest/refit, vehicle and equip maint, equip inventory, ops updates, and site improvements." = "Don't call us, we'll call you." or better yet, "hello Split and hello Metropolis"

The first attacks comited serbs. 10.5.1991 serbs surounded Bosnian village Unista, populated with croatians, and cutted electricity and wather to them, and later in 8 month that year they forced people to flee. The vilage is placed near croatian border.
Later in 11 month of same year serb forces captured and burned village Ravno populated with croatians nationality people. These are first two armed attacks in bosnia and hercegovina.

serbs started out with more weapons and the rump of the yugo army.
