Hey ya'll I've decided to finally do what i've been dreaming of and make my own homemade RACK. I just have one problem, I don't know the dimensions of the real one, so if anybody could measure theirs and help me out i'd appreciate it.

Make it however big you want it. That's the good part of making your own. ;)

Did this quick sketch to give you some idea
http://files.bns-code.org/rack.jpg
What you need to have in mind is how many PALS you are gonna need
eg. do you need 4 rows or just 3 rows on the bib and body, what is your gut-size? are you 40lbs or are you 400lbs, these are just a few things you should consider before you design your own RACK.
I did a RACK some time ago, but the size of it was shortened due to the limited supply of OD webbing I had.

This is my RACK.
If you need any more help you can shoot me a PM or just ask here and I'll give it my best.
edit to add: I kind of regret not just using black webbing (easy to get here) cause the RACK feels small on me.

What did you use for the webbing? Couldn't you just have substituted some 500 or 1000 weight Cordura in OD?

Here you can see a RACK with no pouches, as you can see the bib has 6 columns so the width of the rack would be 9" (make sure to take into consideration edges and other stuff like that.
eg. 6columns alone are 9" but if you are gonna have edgetape on all edges you can add 3/4" to the 9".
Also you may know this but, better be safe then sorry :D

Thats what I could have done if I had some cordura, cordura is somewhat hard to get here.

How many layers of material thick is it? What did you use to "thicken" the harness? Just wondering. Good work. Thanks.

I used two layers of fabric, it feels like 60% of the canvas used in the good old duffelbags.

This place is the best on the net for military pictures. I use them in briefings I have to put together all the time. However, it is the worst for whiny little 12-year olds who think Rainbow Six makes them an expert on SOF missions and equipment. I don't have time to argue with these dumbasses, or I'd post here more.

And if you want something with a back section also :)

and build a SAPI plate pocket into it.

Why not just buy a RACK, it's probably cheaper than all the materials combined?
The SDS RACK costs $60 and the new Improved RACK costs $50

I helped design these. My contact out-sourced the manufacturer and suppliers. He had good connections. We got real 1000D Cordura and Duraflex buckles on our RACK impression. We did the designing through the internet.
It was a lot of fun designing these. We're constantly upgrading it, and I think the manufacturer already hates the never ending modifications, hehehe. If I only knew how to sew or if I had a machine, I would do it myself.
It's a great accomplishment just to wear your own homemade gear. Lucky for us, we had good tailors.

Bib was about 9.5 x 9.5 inches.
Belt was 30 inches wide by about 7 inches.
The standards are:
Molle Slot (Pals Webbing) is 1 inch tall x 1.5 inch wide.
Our Belt had 20 slots. So 1.5 inch multiplied by 20 Pals Webbing equals 30 inches.
The spacing from the 1st row of Pals webbing to the next row is 1 inch.
