If (modern) US warships are USS, and British warships are HMS, what is the abbreviation for German warships? Is it GFS? If so, what does it stand for?
Thanks,
Jeff
The german navy changed their name from Bundesmarine to Deutchmarine in 1999. I dont know the designation GFS and I know they use SSS. The acronyms I'll look up later.

German ships are prefixed Federal German Ship (FGS), I still dont know what SSS stands for. The germans are constantly changing names.

So it's FGS? Thanks. I'm doing a bit of last minute revision on a writing project and I wanted to have my details straight. I'd still be interested in finding out what SSS stands for, if anyone knows.

Some of their acronyms have capitol and lowercase letters intermixed, since they have lots of compound nouns. It's all good, though. I assume.
Quiz: What does PzKw stand for?!?!
The prize: a box of slightly used olive-drab jock straps, and an almost-pregnant kangaroo.
