Can any AK-47 pros help me ID this type? Country of origin mainly. I took pics of what I thought were the most recognizable features, sight readings, fire selector etc....thanks!

But there are differences to one which you provided link to, mainly the Russian AKM type of barrel with the "compensator", maybe its Egyptian, Syrian or Iraqi variant of Romanian AKM? As note the Arabic numbers? on the bayonet..

And the weapon itself is rather AKM type than "AK-47" as it has stamped steel plate rather than machined receiver. ;)

Yeah the bayonets Iraqi, it was just the rifle itself I was wondering about. During my tour I came across many different kinds but never knew about this one.

"Never been fired only dropped once." :P

Lunatic2T2, what you have there is a Romanian AKM (butt-stock removed) It has been known as the AIM or Model-1963. It has the unique forward pistol grip. Plus, the seletor lever markings denote Romanian!

As for the bayonet, Polish or Soviet, I am not sure?

It's AKMS-R (Avtomat Kalashnikova Modrenizirvani Skladnoi-Ruminski) Only the stock is not visible in photo. Bayonete looks like an old AKM style bayonet becose ruber grip handlle is only on half of its sheat.
