Subject name is pretty self explanitory. How did they attach it? Zip ties, or did they have some other form of attaching equipment?

I'm guessing that you can mount it through the holes on the 203's heatshield.

When using a standard 203 handguard (what Rat shows), there is a mount the attaches to the handguard that you then attach the PEQ2/PAQ4/etc to. Now days they are mostly attaching them directly to the RAS of the M16A4

Can I get a picture of the mount?

As far as I know the PEQ or PAQ mounts attach to the barrel of the M-16 when using the standard hand guard or the M-203 heat shield and connects with the laser through the holes, but the hand guard do not suppord the devise in any way

I don't have any nor have I seen any pictures of just the mount without the laser attached. I'm sure there are some around, though.

That BS. If this were true, then any heat would transfer directly from the barrel thru the mount to the PAQ4/PEQ2, which isn't good since it is a piece of expensive electronic gear. That kind of defeats the purpose of the handguard all together, which is to avoid heat transfer. Stick to what you KNOW, not what you THINK.

Two more photos. In the on the marine cleans his weapon, you can see the inner part of the peq mount through the heat shield's hole. There the outter part is screwed by two screws. The outter part, where the devise attaches, you can see it in the other photo, without the PEQ installed

It's interesting that you show Marine infantry since that's what I am and I carried an M203 for over 3 yrs. The mounts we had didn't look like that. We must have had an earlier version because ours sucked so bad we didn't even use them. If the top pic is a current one, then that looks to be a more robust mount. It should be noted that the top mount is for an M16A2 though, not an M203.
As far as the other two pics, it's near impossible to tell what type of mount since they don't have their handguards removed.
