Hi folks! I'd like to show you a "digital" camo I made for my friend which owns an outdoor clothing company. He has asked me to design a pixel camo based on the brand's logo. so I did. Howether while designing it I pointed out that the moderm military pixel camo patterns lose their "digitality" when viewed from a longer distance. Just go and check any MARPAT,CADPAT or the new Italian one in effect - they look just like like they were single coloured in fact...
and well, I think I've found a way to go over it. take a look at what I've done...

from close, at first glance you see rather the shapes coming off the difference in weight of several "pixels" (screen effect) than the ones resulting from colouristic changes. howether when you look from a bigger distance a superposed structure of coloured shapes starts appearing over what you've seen from close and interfers with it. The longer is the distance, the less you see the detailed screen effect and the better the simple coloured shapes.

Although I don't expect my camo to be ever used in any real field conditions, I would be glad to hear your comments concerning it.
(I don't mean the colours, which are probably to be changed)

regards,

Those light pixels put a nice sunlight effect to it. I think it'll look nice.

I think he should make more patches of colors instead of one relative size. This will make the pattern more 3 dimensional.

I'm interested to see how it looks printed. Good work.

I agree. Print out some material and send it to somebody and have them make a DCU style uniform out of it.

Really interesting. I'd like to see it in some context. Could I have your permission to photoshop it into some backgrounds and mess with the colors? I won't use it for anything commercial, just to post on this thread.

I can have it printed. I'm not sure how much material I can get done, but I'm pretty sure I can get a 1m square without problems.

I do think it will wash out into a woodland camo type pattern at longer distances.
