Is anyone out there able to advise a list and pictures of all the sniper rifle scopes used by the US military (Army, USMC, USAF, Navy etc..)?
I'm interested because I seem to be seeing a lot more commercial type rifle scopes mounted on Sniper/DMR rifles in pictures from Iraq and Afghanistan.
I know that the Leupold M3 is standard on the M24, and the US Optics (Unertl) MST-100 goes on the M40 series, but I have seen pictures of Leupold M1 3.5 -10x40, and 3-9x36 on M14DMRs and SPR/SAM-Rs. Are these scopes issued, or bought by the soldiers to replace their issue items?
