I saw an interesting piece in the San Francisco Chronicle this morning. Turns out that San Francisco was the only city in the United States that celebrated the end of World War II with a riot. And it was a good one to. Back in 1945 San Francisco was the staging ground for a possible invasion of Japan and when that fell through a large number of the soldiers and sailors that were here went absolutely **** ing ape **** during the post war celebration. 11 dead, 1000 injured, bonfires in the streets, and gang rapes on every corner. I've lived in the Bay Area my entire life and this is the first time that I have ever heard about this ****. Dirty little secret.

A little know side note about San Francisco that some of you homos out there may find interesting. Did you know that the United States military is responsible for turning San Francisco into the gay Mecca that it is today? It's true. The founding faggots here in SF were service members that never got to see the South Pacific during WW2 because they got the boot for being queer. I guess for a lot of these guys their discharge papers with a big red letter H for Homo****** stamped on them didn't go over so well back at home with their families. They just kind of set up shop here and because of that I can't even tell strangers where I'm from without getting the business.

Fabricaction, sorry.
Probably based on half truths and embelishments. I've heard the story before and it's BS.

It's just another revisionist story that if told loud enough and repeted enough, will become historical fact.
I want to say the rumor started around the whole "don't ask don't tell" policy time period.
SF is a cool place to visit, but living there is a no brainer.

SF is a cool place to visit, but living there is a no brainer. You're a tough card to read. I can't tell if you're sticking up for the homos, the military, or the City of San Francisco. Which group are you defending?

LOL, I'm just stating some facts and opinions. The Military homo's made SF gay" thing is BS. The rumor probably started around the same time as the "don't ask don't tell" policy to booster support for having gays in the military.
I like to vist SF, but I di not want to live there.

Speaking of the invasion..
By spring of 1942, Japan controlled the western Pacific, the Philippines, and large parts of Indochina. America and her allies knew that final victory could only be achieved by unconditional surrender and that would involve occupation of the Japanese homeland. This is the story Operation Downfall, the plan to invade and occupy Japan that would dwarf the D-Day landings in Europe. According to the plan, on X-Day--November 1, `45--General MacArthur would lead an invasion force onto the beaches of Kyushu, the southern most of the Japanese Islands. Y-Day would follow six months later when the largest beach landing in military history would take Tokyo. Politicians and military strategists knew that Japanese resistance would be ferocious. Plans for the invasion continued throughout `45 until President Truman made the decision to drop the atom bomb. We trace the invasion plans from Pearl Harbor to Hiroshima and analyze why Truman chose the bomb over Operation Downfall. TVPG V cc

Why is America a "she" ?
Traditionally, men have given female names to objects they held in reverence - such as our ships named after the wives of the sailors or the airplanes named after sweethearts etc., and this phenomena simply extends to our homeland as an illustration of reverence. Plus, have you seen the size of our ****? I've never seen honkers like that on a male country.
