Its the EuroMil Mi 38 - built by a collaboration of Eurocopter, Mil and Kazan Helicopters. Completely new design, but, being mostly Russian (designs kicked off in 1986) it looks like it fell off the same tree as most of Ivan's other Choppers - but at the same time, looks remarkably like the EH101!!!

I've always wanted to check out the MAKS air show but have not been able to attend due to budgetary and other issues. Thanks for the wonderful pictures though. Please post more!

It's a quest of mine to someday see the Farnborough, Paris and MAKS air shows in the same year!

Its been years since i've been to a good air show, went to RIAT in 1996 - the smaller australian ones just don't compare.

I've seen plenty of Myasechevs drawings and they range from swing wings to deltas like the concorde. Pretty sure if it was a straight copy they wouldn't have bothered with testing other configurations.

And then again If both sides are competant you would expect them to come up with something similar when the requirements are so similar.

Of course it is rather hard to tell as the b-1 never entered service and the b-1b has half the installed thrust of a Tu-160. (it is closer to a Tu-22M3 in power).
