right?
Yes:
"The Desert Eagle is a semi-automatic, gas-operated pistol that is manufactured in Israel by IMI (Israeli Military Industries) for Magnum Research, Inc. Magnum Research, based in the USA, developed and patented the original Desert Eagle design, but the refining was done by IMI."
As a note:
"While IMI makes a cosmetically similar pistol, originally called the Jericho 941 and now marketed as the "Baby Eagle", the guns bear no functional eqivalence--the Jericho/Baby Eagle design is a standard double action, short recoil design."

I too have had the opportunity to dump a few mag's down range with the 357mag version. A very heavy pistol and the muzzle flash was very impresive!
My wife was in the booth next to me firing a 9mm Glock and the range officer came up to me when I was ready but made me wait until my wife was done as he wanted to see her reaction when I touched off the first round. BOOM! She jumped, we laughed.

I had one...once ... had to get rid of it .... couldnt carry it in a holster properly... etc etc..... nice gun though ...but a little awkward..... i prefer a S&W 44 mag (large frame) for a number of other reasons... to each his own... i guess..
