I took a couple of simunition rounds while role playing during a recent active shooter exercise my department did. They are certainly not paintballs.

Haha.... did they hurt? The thing about paintball/simunitions that I dont like is the fact that you have to wear mouth protection. Thats why I like airosft, while you may break your teeth playing airsoft without a mouthguard: http://www.gearworx.com/images/broken.jpg or get some face cuts: http://www.tacticalair.com/closerange.jpg its still not as bad if it was paintball/simunitions

how much power does the simunition have compared to paintball?. I was in an old factory a year ago where the vienna swat team used to train from time to time. There was simunition everywhere on the floor, took some of it home (put the parts back together so it looked like the rounds where new)

The Simunition FX Marking cartridge travels at Approx 400fps. The CQT round 800FPS. The FX cartidge is th only one for force on force training.

What would you rather play with? MILES, Simunitions, Paintball, or Airsoft? Airsoft is probably the 2nd most realistic combat simulation to MILES/Simunitions. So its a fact that most civilian combat enthusiasts play airsoft. It would be fun to try MILES/Simunitions though. But Simunitions are paintball and you have to wear mouth protection and MILES shoots no projectile.

Paintball is more realistic to combat than Airsoft. Besides the guns of course.....

Paintball has become too commercial. You wear neon colored clothing and run at each other shooting 100s of rounds within a minute. Then its over, you reload and do it again. Don't get me wrong, I used to play paintball and I think it is fun, but I just feel that Airsoft is more realistic.

Have you been in the military?

I hardly see how paintball (the game as it's played today) is more realistic than how airsoft is played...since when does the Military wear neon clothes and weapons with giant containers on top holding 200 rounds? (besides those Calico SMGs).

Paintball is more realistic than airsoft because if one used red paint, it would simulate blood. Ever hit someone with a paintball? You'd see red paint all over them, plus everyone can see that they are hit.
Dont get me wrong, I dont like paintball becuase you'd have to wear mouth protection and the paintball industry isnt as militarized as airsoft is.

No, paintball is more realistic than Airsoft in some ways, just as Airsoft is more realistic than paintball in others. AS shoots little plastic bb's than are accurate for about 80 feet. And even a slight breeze could throw the shot off course. Paintballs are bigger and stay accurate longer. I have talked to several people that have been in the military and said that as far as shooting goes, paintball is more realistic.

i think for typical cqb situations airsoft is the better choice. Look realistic, feels realistic and who the hell cares if theres a red stain or not?. Outdoor is a problem like someone said, the accuracy decreases very fast when the wind is blowing

Some EXELLENT points have definitely been made here and it has changed my "perspective" if you will, about the 2 sports in general. What about this? Play paintball outdoors and play airsoft indoors? Another problem as RANGE and CHEATING. For the US military, this isnt a problem when theyre using the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES). However, I believe when MILES is used in conjunction with either paintball or airsoft, it should be an exellent combination.
Some may say that (Besides Simunitions) paintball guns are "unrealistic". Those are the people that haven't heard of the REAL ACTION MARKER technology:

But everyone has to agree, that the #1 civilian military simulation today is still, AIRSOFT!!!!

most people know the real action marker, but hey thats just ONE marker in a sea of hundrets. If paintball wouldnt be that anti-military than i would play it. Just let me wear camo and i would be happy, but here in europe its not allowed on most games, so i only wear my army and swat outfit on halloween hehe

Dont think "follower", think "leader". They dont allow? Who is "they"? You can become that "they" and have a military paintball field-Hell, even start a military paintball revolution
