If anybody's interested in the Swedish army, this site http://www.wendel.se/rswa/index.htm is pretty good.

Though I might share...

I have a question: Do the Swedish People use the Bofors L/70? Has it changed at all? I think they developed the L3 ammo or whatnot.

Sorry about rambling on.

Maybe somebody in the know can answer this one. In the picture below from that swedish site, I noticed the same criss cross straps on the helmet. The british also have this for their regular troops in Iraq right now. What I don't understand, is why they have this. It seriously breaks up the camoflauge, and seeing as the helmet is usually the part sticking over the trench wall, why would they be defeating themselves with it?

My guess is it would be useful for sticking small branches or other local foliage onto the helmet. In Iraq they would be used to hold a picture of Saddam to more easily blend in with walls or other structures. ;)
