I've been to where all the F-15s and F-4s where taking off in misawa, the whole place is one big friggen dirt hole, huge sandstorms sweep up with terrible winds and the smell of jet fuel is well infused with the land there.

it's a joint JASDF/US Navy Air base.

same with the submarine, i belive its stationed out of Yukosuka.
