why does the military refuse people because of [deaf in one ear a club foot etc.] if they are willing to serve and we have a shortage of troops than take then they can do clerical, mess hall, behind the line kinda stuff and send the "healthy" ones that are behind the lines to the front
we should not refuse anyone willing to serve his country
we should be proud of those that have these problems willing to do their share while many healthy ones avoid it :cantbeli:

Did you have a bad experience?
I know I did....
Not a bad question, but there are various reasons. I met some mentally handicapped personnel in the service.

Because in most armies you're a soldier first and a tradesman second ie. I am trained as a basic infantryman albeit a long time ago but my specialist trade is Armoured Recce specialist so I operate on a vehicle or as a four man recce team. Cooks are also trained in this manner before they go on to complete chef's training, so in reality if the s**t hits the fan EVERYONE is capable of fighting.

but he said military, not army.
true that in the army your a grunt first, but in the much of the navy your job comes first and everything else is secondary.
( I know why services don't take 4f, and it has more to do with endangering some one else rather than just being picky. You depend on those around you to have all thier faculties)
...but if you think about it. If your hard of hearing and want to get in the Navy they might as well let you. Because if you go to work on an aircraft carrier.... your gonna be hard of hearing by the time you get out! :|
