I am a "pogue", but refreshments are the FRG's job. You know that. Actually the only time I saw paratroopers passing out refreshments was when we covered the 319 FA on a Hollywood jump they were doing.

Ahh yes, seems like "Thievery" is the eighth, unwritten, Core Army Value... But the Army is a cross-section of America, maybe not a truly representative one, but a cross-section none the less.

Your bad-ass paratrooper facade is cracking...quick.
I'd still like to know what a Marine medic is too...
In reguards to your bad-mouthing a medic, you can do that after you've intubated a trauma victim, stuck an IV, and shocked a heart in V-Fib back to a normal SR...that's for starters.

Something else - In the USMC we never understood what the big deal was about being a leg vs. non leg. You can attache a parachute with a static line to a sack of potatoes... all it is is a way to get into the fight.

I don't want to start a flame war, but if you are one of those "leg vs. non leg types" take the chip of your shoulder... get over yourself.

Although your right James, Only legs say **** like that... If you have your wings, and you've used them more then the 5 jumps at school then most are pround of them. Do they make you more of a man, no, but it does feel good to be a Paratrooper, unless, it's 0305 on Sicily DZ and you just landed on your ruck...

As for the pics, thanks, It's been 10 years since I've had the chance to see pics of some of those DZs.... As for the statement about the ditch running thru one of the DZs, it wasn't a ditch when I was there, it was a canyon... we did a jump on that DZ one night, and needed ladders for the trees to get guys out, then we had a couple of teams fall into the canyon after unassing a UH60 one night... too funny...

Can't be McKall, too green, and looks too flat for McKall. Are there still those high Pine trees at the base Luzon, on McKall? I remember back in the 90's (early) we had a Bn Exercise one night and 82nd Arty, had a couple of their 105s in the trees, we desided to get some camo chute, and 550 cord, but to see those guns in those trees was something..

But James, as the Paras would say it, that's because you were a "Crap-hat" Marine  (All in good fun!)

I am not MFF qualified, however I do skydive, and I am an SLJM. The experience of Jumping free-fall or SL during the day, with a lot of interval between jumpers, is not the same as conducting a Mass Attack, Large Package Week, or JFEX, crammed into the belly of a C-130, C-141 (RIP) or C-17, sweating your nuts off for hours, the weight of the guy's ruck across from you firmly planted on your ruck, thus destroying your knees, only to have the safety walk on top of the both of you to grab his BA-21, the guys to your left and right vomiting as the A/C flys defensive up, down, left and right doing a Nap of the Earth, the relief of standing up, the anticipation of the Jump Commands, the rush of air as the doors open, the "30 Seconds!" hand signal coming back, the motivational yells and whoops of "**** yeah!", " Bring it on!", "Here we go!" and most often "Get me off this ****ing bird!"

The static line to the safety, the proper exit of shoving the cherry guy in front of you because he stopped to long in the door, stepping off into inky black nothing, your ass sliding along the back of the bird, and always counting and praying that you never reach "four thousand!"

Thanking God your chute opened, looking around and realizing that since it's AWADs you cannot see anything, except for the guy next to you who is trying to steal your air, and seems intent upon getting entangled with you. The standard SOP of screaming at him, "Slip Away, Asshole!", usually to no avail.

Hitting the ground like a sack of ****, conducting the proper parachute landing fall of "feet, ass, face", getting dragged along the ground, and finally checking your body in order: "I can move my feet. My legs. My hands. Nothing broken. That was cool."

Then moving off to conduct a mission where chaos runs supreme, and LGOPs of 19 year olds seriously lacking in adult supervision carry out the commander's intent, which they remember to be something along the lines of "find everyone not dressed like you, and kill them."

Then road-marching back from the field, dirty, tired, worn-out, sore, grumpy, but thoroughly satisfied that one day you can tell your kids that daddy was something that most Americans never were or will be: a US Paratrooper.

I'm not a "chip on the shoulder guy", nor a big fan of the Division, but I love being around soldiers and the crazier, the better.

The man makes the tabs. The tabs don't make the man. You know that. I know that. Everyone who knows that you don't wear underwear in BDUs know that.

We have no way of vetting people here other than by the credibility that appears in their posts. Thus, it does no good to play the, "I was a Corporal with Jesus" card, because there is no way to verify it. I could tell you that I was RRD, 2e REP, and contracted with SAD and DSS. Which of course is not true, but how could you verify? See my point? Thus claiming the long-tab is not the silver-bullet to respect in an environment like this.

This is a kiddie forum, for the most part, but it does have quite a few intelligent people, some of which are BTDT of varying degrees. If you want vetted bonefides, go to SOCNET. Otherwise, the credibility of someone is solely determined by how intelligently they post.

If you insult people, attempt to threaten or violate PERSEC by asking for CQ numbers, then it severely damages your credibility.

Besides, if you are a triple-tabber (with the important short and long tabs, I assume), why would you worry about the young soldiers and wannabes who ask questions? The end result would simply be you getting banned, and the young guys thinking "Wow, I talked to this guy who said he was triple-tabbed, and he was an unprofessional jerk." Which is the exact opposite of nearly every OGA or ODA guy I've ever talked to or been friends with...but being a jerk is normally what every poser does.

Oh, you've "Done Your Time"? Well thanks. Many of us have. I find bragging about it embarrassing myself, but perhaps that's just me...

If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll and sounds like a troll... it's a troll. The vast majority of your posts here have been empty of value and argumentative. That's why you're getting this reputation. Unlike some other message borads, people here gain a reputation based on how they post and behave, not getting some background check by a moderator or something. So, if you are a vet, tabbed, whatever, GOOD FOR YOU. Try not to hurt your arm while you're patting yourself on the back. If you aren't, don't worry about it.

You talk about your accolades, and how they mean nothing here. Well, I don't think any of us know what they are, and, in all honesty, you're right. They don't mean anything here.

Have a good one.

I guess my accolades mean nothing here.

Your sense of deduction amazes me! You should be a rocket scientist or something like that...maybe along the lines of a LEG chimpazee.

Do you even know what a LEG is? Stop trolling the board, troll. :bash:

Hey I didnt say anything which can be misconstrued as such. Nevertheless your saying: "I'm telling."

I've got a tab they wish they had

Ranger Challenge?

Dude, I saw some ROTC kid sporting one of those things around. Looks like a Ranger Scroll. It was really fun seeing our hard ass Ranger 1st Sgt smoke his ass for thimkin' he was the man.

Please dont tell me you are talking about having a Ranger Challenge Tab? That would make my day!

BTW: I was not in a Ranger Battalion. Our top came from the 1st Batt.

I remember seeing dudes with those tabs on. Pretty classic. I had some friends who did Green to Gold and refused to wear those "longer" tabs.

Nice pics nerdman! I am a former 91 B line medic myself. Did go for your EFMB yet. By your Avatar I am guessing you have been to the sand box or A-stan.

EFMB: I was going to go in OCT, but is has been canceled due to mass deployments on Bragg.

Avatar: Haven't been yet. I posted that avatar right after I enlisted in March of 04 as a medic, without knowing its true meaning. Hopefully I'll never have to earn it. If anyone feels I'm posing I'll gladly take it down.

On that note...

Today I was offered a chance to deploy to Iraq with a BN from the 504 or 325. Most of them leave Bragg this weekend.

I had to turn it down. I'm going on leave tonight to visit my Grandfather in Florida who is dying of lung cancer. I know I made the right decision.

In the words of Stole, I guess we should call you triple-canopy cadet.
Give me a break.
If you're so high speed, I'm still awaiting an explanation on what a 'marine medic' is.

Def try for the EFMB. I got it on my second try. It is humbling but a great confidence builder. Don't worry about the avatar. You will earn it soon enough.
You made the right decision about staying. There are always wars to fight. Family only happens once.
Good Luck and have fun with the Lawn Darts on the DZ.
