Too bad they no longer publish an English edition. RAIDS was the best military magazine I've encountered, especially in regards to contemporary stuff.

I have to catch a copy! woot

It is definitively one of the best military magazines I've ever read... it's always plenty of full-page full-color pictures. I've found a few errrors (mostly on gear and other equipments) but they are usually recalled in the following issue.

To be honest, SoF has much many better articles... but too many b/w pages and... I hate the "splitting" (i.e. jumpin' from page 16 to page 70). I'd like to see a full-color SoF... that's would be a killer-app. :D

I used to like SoF a lot in the 1980's, when I was a junior high and high school student. I even bought into all of the right-wing anti-commie stuff. But, after they quit focusing on low-intensity insurgencies in Central America, Southern Africa, and SE Asia, and put more focus on anti-governmental conspiracy theories & the US militia movement, and talented correspondents like Steve Salisbury left, I grew disinterested.
RAIDS has great photos, and really good info about international miltary units, weapons, and equipment, without all the flag-waving and neocon propaganda I've grown tired of.
I still read SoF on occasion, but it's not what it once was.
