I just read some book , which talking about the so called "the soldiers bondage" . That talking about the honnor , the bondage , that different soldiers from different armies have to each others . While they came from different places , from different enviroments , they experience in army make them become simmilar .
There is several stories about soldiers that fought each other , and had respect to each other , as every soldier suppose to get . There is some sureal story , about 2 pilots that were ingage in dog fight (guess who are them - Israeli and Egyptian pilot ) , that got close to each other , saluted to each other , and engaged .

I was brousing in Archives (because the forums were down) , and i stubled those pictures , that reminded me that idea - Soldier in the world are basicly all allike , and all are honnored by that proffesion , and by most sacred thing that exist between fighter soldiers - they bloud friendship .

That is Israeli book , i am very doubt it is exist abroad . It was written by some naval officer , and was very controversial , sence he attacked several high ranking officers in IDF establishment , and wrote some things , that was classified at that time . Never the less , very interesting book , it is talking about IDF S'11 , the Israeli Navy Landing crafts unit , that he commanded .I tryed to find some very nice pictures of those , but they weren't anywhere on the net .

heh I remember that during the Nigerian civil war (Biafra secesion) there was a dogfight betwen a Federal and Rebel pilots it ended with two planes damages but none shoot down... When couple of years ago a friend of mine prepared book Poles in NiGeria (Polacy w Nigerii) he asked polish ppl to send their memories from Nigeria and he received two stories about this dogfight.... One from Polish pilot (ex RAF pilot during WW2) and second from... Polish pilot :-) who were a.. Polish pilot in RAF during WW2) so in conclusion this dogfight was betwen two polish ppl who fighted as mercenaries in africa (since there were not to many skilled pilots both sides hired mercenaries mainly ex Luftwaffe, US Air forces ,RAF pilots,soviet pilots) and it was not unusiual when there were pilots from those four countries in one formation).
4 years ago those two guys meet each other in warsaw It was amazing two guys who were from the same country who fighten in september 1939 for the same country and then served in RAF 15 years after war tried to kill each other and then after 35 next years shaked their hand in warsaw cafe...

If you want to hear something inspirational watch either the last or second last episode of Band of Brothers where the captured German company all form up in rank to hear their commander give them a post war speech. While one of the soldiers from Easy company translates as they sit and watch the commander talk to his company. The speech was quite moving and it did actually happen according to one of the Easy Company guys. Upon hearing that speech he said that he realized just how much repect that two guys on opposite sides of the battlefield have for each other. p-)

Or the bond that company commander of Easy describes. He says its nothing that he has with anyone else not his family, no one. He would drop everything in his life for one of the guys from Easy, cause its a timeless bond that has no boundaries, soldiers put their life in each others hand and they embrace that by doing the best they can.

From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother

I watched the entire series 6 times . Very nice series , showing the mindes of soldiers , just like the fighting - probably nothing much changed on hearts and minds of soldiers sence half century ago (I remember , that when i wached the series first time . how much i wanted to kick Lt. Sobbol ass ..) . In IDF there was proposittion to show soldiers those movies , like "Saving Private Ryan" , "BAND OF BROTHERS" AND "BLACH HOCK DOWN" , as part of educational program . I am not shure that it's done those days however .
