Does anyone have any info on the norwegian combatvest I/II and the ranger vest. I have seen the info on the NFM Caseb website already. I'm interested in a Norwegian point of view on the vests.
A typical load out would also help.

The CV1 is not good IMHO. Maybe it looks good. But with full loadout, and wearing it for many hours, almost all the weight ends up at the neck, and that is really uncomfortable. Maybe its better when wearing body armor.
Never tried CV2.
As for pockets:
Double g3 ammo pocket, containing 4 g3 mags.
General Purpose pocket.
Breast pocket.
2 large GP pouches for canteens, showel or whatever.
Now I want to purchase a vest or a chest rig from www.combatkit.net

Maybe its better when wearing body armor.I'm guessing CV1 is the "Stridsvest"? The vest is pretty good in my opinion, an improvement over the old equipment at least. :D Few things you have to do though, unless you are a ****ing giant, get the smallest size and adjust it so it sits fairly high on your body. Then there's the most important part: tighten the pistol belt so that you don't have to carry the vest with your neck, but rather with that bone that I can't remember what's called in english. ;)
It isn't perfect though. IMO, they should strip the thing of non-essential pockets, remove those silly shoulder things and make it lighter. The way things are connected to the vest is a bit overkill IMO, a slightly more clever mechanism would be better. I don't like the magazine pocket either. Having two magazines next to eachother like that made my magazine changes slooow compared to the old GRU. It also makes the vest "stick out" quite a bit, so crawling in slightly rough terrain is harder than it has to be since the pocket gets stuck in everything. Having two pockets, one on the right and one on the left, with only two mags in each would be better IMO. The small multipocket isn't exactly essential anyway.
And if you have the "ballistic glasses" mounted on the vest then I will point and laugh.
One of the big pockets can be used for the shovel, but it's far better just to hook it onto the belt.
urs, what did you do in the military?

the ones that look like this: I don't remember where, but what I can tell you is that it will break your budget. Badly. I think it was around $400. It's called M99 at least. The jacket in the picture is M75, the pants are M98. And those should be cheap. From what I can tell then the guy on the right and in the back is wearing the M99.

wow so theres no way i can get norwegian cammo for less than 50?If you want what the guy in the center of the picture is wearing then you can probably get it for less than $20 if you buy it directly from FLO's surplus. They actually had a site on mil.no, but I can't remember where it is...

When I was in the army, there was no CV1 (stridsvest). I was in the artillery.
Sure the CV1 is an improvement from the old webbing. Was impossible to make mag changes when wet. And adjusting the pistolbelt will help, which I have ;) . But not enough. Thats my experiance. And it's to bulky for my use now, moving in and out of vehicles alot.
Now I am in Heimevernets Innsatsstyrke. Operating carl gustav 84mm. :D

CV-1, forget it. Simple as that. CV-II, improvement, but still complete crap for the reasons outlined by some of the above posters. I've carried both light and heavy loads with it, and common for both is that no matter how much you try to adjust and modify it, it still finds ways to go at your neck or rotate and twist itself. In Kosovo some of the guys tried cutting a ground mat and sewing it to the neck area, but it didn't really work from what i gathered. In addition, the concept of putting your pouches on the thing/modular setup is good in theory, but fails with the Norwegian range of pouches and fastening patent. They simply don't get as close to the body as they should.
As for the Ranger/Spesvest/whatever name it has, it's good yes, but overpriced to the silly. If it's one thing NFM knows it's how to take money for peanuts which isn't kosher. The ones we used also started falling apart after six months of hard use, could be what to expect from cordura like this, but atleast my privately bought US rig still looks as new after use.
Combatkit sells good stuff to sensible prices. CK's chestrigs are on their way in to several units in the military. Haven't tried his vest yet, but some of the guys bought both the modular and rifleman variant. The modular vest also accepts US style pouches and actually stick the way they should.
Take Care,
Marcus
