About two weeks ago, I was finally able to buy a WW2-era British Denison smock from an internet auction at a rather expensive price of about 230,000 won. It was kind of expensive, but the guy told me that it was a WW2-vintage item, so I thought it was a reasonable, if not cheap, price to pay for such a rare relic.
After I got my Denison, my spirit was rather uplifted by the fact that I was possessing an actual WW2-vintage camo. However, when I went over to my friend's place to boast about the new camo, he took a careful look at it and said,
"I think this is a replica, dude."
"What? Are you sure?"
"80%, if not a full 100."
"How the **** do you know whether it's a replica or not?"
"I have my ways," and he went on explaining the difference between the fabrics and textures of the original Denison and mine, the appearingly combat-wound damages on the smock that were more likely to be inflicted intentionally, and the maker of the smock.
"That's the same maker that manufactured the Fallschrmjager smock replica that I have now," he said, actually showing the collar of his smock. I sat down on the ground, my mind totally aghast.
"So.....ummm....How much would these replicas cost?"
"Maybe 150 to 170 thousand. Not a lot of people are looking for this stuff these days."
Then I got totally pissed off by the fact that I had become the victim of a burglarly trade. I tried to contact the man who sold me the replica smock by the E-mail address and the phone number he gave me, but the E-mails that I sent him just came back, implying that he had obviously eliminated his E-mail address. After dialing his number, I was infuriated by a polite woman operater's reply, "The address you have dialed is not in the directory. Please check again."
However, I was able to track this man down through his bank account that he gave me, and when I finally called him, he cursed me and hung up. That day I called him over 100 times, and a while later the man had severed his own phone connection.
Well, today I got my hands on his address. I guess I'll have to pay the little prick a personal visit. I don't plan on using violence to make him apologize for his act, but if the man doesn't learn his lessons, I'll just have to kick him in the genitals........
