Might I add that none of these pictures contain me nor have I any idea who the people are in the pictures. I got these off of the regimental web site, but I have only been to my regiment like 3 times and to be honest a lot of the guys there were assholes and they treated me and the other new recruits like ****. But I can imagine all that is expected.

That sounded like a poor regiment to be in. Would you like to transfer to some where else if you could?

I get my jump wings in 2 years if i stay strong and vomplete all the following courses successfully and if there are openings for the course at that time of course. And to answer somebody's question about knowing people: I only know 1 cpl, 1 mcpl, and 1 sgt from my regiment by name and that is because they are instructors on my course. The mcpl is my section commander and the sgt is another section's commander.

Nice pics man. So your unit specializes in Para I take it?
That’s cool, I’m not much for the sky personally, I will stick with my Mountain operation unit. I would rather fall to my death off a cliff, then out of the sky! p-)

I imagine winter training is an integral part of the canadian forces, I bet its pretty harsh.

Meh...I dont mind it. Setting up a 10 man in 3 feet of snow can be rough ...

Humility is a virtue. The internet is a small place. Watch what you say or you will get burned. I know several members of the Reg't who lurk on these boards.
And the troop asking about certain NCOs. Please don't ask about them on an open forum by name. I know they won't appreciate that regardless of your intentions.

Germaine. I suggest you dont come onto this site, with an elitist attitude like that.
Do some research before posting.
Number one rule of socialising. Think before you act.
The QOR is the only resrve regiment in Canada that is airborne qualified.

The pics are all QOR Para Coy. Trust me on this one. Andy, don't trash talk your unit, especially before you are established or it will haunt you. You can trust me on that one too. There are a lot more QOR guys on this forum then you might imagine. Please be careful what you are saying on this thing, the troops are watching and you don't want them to know who you are before you know who they are... Don't take it personal if the troops weren't all huggy kissy the first time you showed up, there is a certain period of feeling out time where you prove yourself in the field before they will be chummy, such is the nature of military culture. This unit is very much oriented on performance, so until you show some you don't get a heck of a lot of credit. You're brand spanking new, stick with it, you'll get it before too long. Also, if you are going to use names, use a private message will you? I don't expect those three troops mentioned would appreciate it.

I wasn't really trash talking my unit. I was just saying that some guys were kinda rude thats all. I personally would probably act with humility towards new recruits if they werent acting like retards of course thats all. I think the QOR are great probably the best reserve unit in Canada. The unfortunate thing is that I'm gonna have to switch to another regiment in Peterborough cause im going to Trent University there in the fall. :(

That is too bad. You are really missing out. By the way, I know your instructors and that brick story, that was priceless. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time, thank you. I have been reading your posts and you certainly seem awfully sensitive in terms of soldiers not being 'nice' to you. I think you must be missing something in terms of what you think military life is all about. Not that things will always be this way, because they won't, but you are brand new ( read : FNG ) and have a heck of a lot of work to do to earn the respect from these troops that you seem to just 'expect' for showing up. On that matter you said yourself you hardly even do show up. I want to encourage you in your endeavours as a soldier, a rifleman in the QOR and especially as a jumper, but you need to sort yourself out and stop being so thin skinned. Put some serious effort into your soldiering and I think you will find it very rewarding.
