I don't think there are any numbers right now. Just speculation.

10000 seems high.

I believe 300 or so.

yeah, to be honest i think the dethtoll in the end isnt going to be as high as many people are suggesting, at least from the storm and its aftermath. Alot of the people that are dying would have died with or without the hurricaine. I mean, consider how many people probably die in this city on a normal day of natural causes. Something to consider.

I think deaths actually caused by the storm are going to be MUCH higher in places like Gulfport and Biloxi once they start picking through the rubble and breaking down doors of collapsed homes.

The only official number I've heard so far is 147 (or 174, but I think it's 147) in the State of Mississippi. There are many more dead but the number only gets changed as the dead are collected, identified and recorded by the coroners.

I'd suspect it will be over 1,000 but as for anything more specific I really don't have a clue.

Time will tell.

In the end, people are going to come up with some huge deathtoll, but lets face it, half of those people would have died of natural causes without a hurricaine anyways. So before an official deathtoll is announced, they need to consider who died from conditions brought on by the hurricaine, and who would have died anyways.

Will it ever be known, as so many people and there famlies could have just been washed away and buried under piles of silt.

I don't think the death toll will exceed 300. This LA senator sounds like a RINO to me just based on the statements he/she made

Id say it will definetely top 300.

You have to account the storm, lack of water in areas, the god damn heat, the elderly, homeless who were unable to flee. It will come to more then 300 imho. I pray it dosent and all the dead R.I.P :|

We will not know for a while. It will take until mid October to pump NO dry. Everything else is speculation.

And what about those whose death may seem natural (old people, really sick people) who died because of the lack of resources?
