Army Special Operations troops search for rumored secret-police jail cells during a sweep through the Istikhbarat military intelligence headquarters Saturday in northwest Baghdad. A sweep by conventional forces and then Special Operations troops uncovered no evidence of such a detention center or any prisoners kept there.

That first photo is of a Marine MEU guy? I've never seen any Marines with painted M4's. I honestly have never thought of them ever painting their weapons.

Adambalbetchet should tell me if the Marines wear whatever damn vest the guys are wearing in the first photo. Oh well.

Nice pictures!

Hooah! p-)

What camo is the guy manning the GPMG wearing?

I could be mistaken, but I think the only Marine units in the MEU that carry M4s especially painted ones would be Force and MSPFs. Most of the infantry usually carries M16s and SAWs etc.

The vest the first guys are wearing are either FSBE's or BALCS Ranger Option. The camo the guy is wearing appears to be woodland.....

Is that US woodland? Also do other units than USMC units get the FN-MAG/M-240? If he's a marine shouldn't he be wearing MARPAT (spelling?) camos?

Of course if he's SpecOps, he could probably wear a Dior gown and get away with it. Oh my, scary thought... :backhand:

All Marines dont wear the MARPAT just yet, I dont think they can keep them in stock on base because they are being bought out so soon enough all Marines will be wearing them. I do think that all of the infantry has the new digital camo over their helmets so that is another way to tell.

in response to marines painting their M4's... it looks more like caked mud to me than paint...... why would they just bother to paint a few spots?

Over the next five years the Camouflage Utility Uniforms will be phased out for what many here call MarPat. Its actually called Combat Utility Uniforms. In the next two years every Marine must have atleast one pair. Its true the Marine Corps cant keep up with the demand for CUUs.

I posted that photo. It's from an article in the Daily Telegraph (British newspaper). Apparently a British reporter from the paper met British special forces on a bridge in Basra, when civilians were fleeing the city.
