I have couple of questions . The first time i heard the word "Airsoft" , it was here on this forum . I thought it was form of Paintball , until i looked on those pictures . I looked here in archive , and now i know more or less , what is Airsoft , but still i don't understand couple of things :
1)Isn't that too expensive too by all that gear ?? How people afford it ?
2)Where exactly those Airsoft guys play ? There are Airsoft clubes , or they just find a nice place and play ? (and if it's the last one , isn't it kinda risky with the police ?)

Same here. They're straight forward and say they're wannabes, so I don't have a problem with them.

Hi, being an airsofter myself, I can answer to your questions.
1) Yes, it is expensive but most gear is bought over the years, you don't "begin" with all the stuff those guys have. One month a piece, two or three month after, something else. And it goes on and on...Personnally, I play more for the sport and I don't have hi-speed gear yet, only canadian issue webbing.
2) We usually play in paintball fields and when we play at other place, authorities knows what we're doing. Chance of getting shot is too high otherwise.
Basically, it's a more fun, realist way of paintballing. Some people thinks we're dumbass or stuff like that. They just don't know what they're talking about. We're playing a sport, that's all. :)

I could just imagine the cost for all that "high speed" gear. But, It's like anything else, if you want it bad enough, you will get it.
What a disgrace. His American arm patch is dirty.

The surefire hand guard that the guys on the right has retails from 543 to 683 USD on the surefire web site. (http://www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/carfnbr/266/sesent/00)
The Eothech holosight retails from about 250 to 330 USD depending on the model. (http://www.opticsplanet.net/eotech-holographic-weapon-sights.html)
It adds up to a pretty impressive total if you include the price of the weapon and the AN/PEQ-2 replica and all the gear he has.

There are replicas of the Surefire grip out there for much cheaper, sorta like the replica Aimpoints and PEQ-2's.

really? who makes them?

Not sure, but you can almost definitely find them at at least one of the Hong Kong retailers.
ratamacue, I doubt this is a replica. I've not seen anything looking close to the real deal, and I'm pretty sure berkal owns the real deal
Alot of people like to collect things. It happens that these people like to collect high speed gear. Its not surprising to see someone wearing 2000$ worth of gear. They spend their paycheck/credit card on these things.
www.militarymorons.com is another example.

I just checked out the stats on my site and saw i had nearly 3000 hits from this thread alone...holy cr*p!!!
Yes, these pics are mine and hotlinked from my site (argh bandwidth!).
To answer and possibly rebuff a few of the previous comments:
- Yes, we are airsofters having a bit of fun. It states this clearly on the wannabe website. Unfortunately when you hotlink in=mages out of context people can get the wrong impression. We are not, nor do we pretend to be real operators. We are just a couple of wannabes who enjoy dressing up like our heroes (sh*t...it beats dressing up as women!)
- The Surefire is real deal (hell, if anyone knows where this fabled replica M900 is start shipping them abroad mate!).
- The ANPEQ is an airsoft dummy.
- The Eotech is real.
- The rifles are airsoft.
- Which armpatch is dirty? Or am I missing the joke here?
- Young? Me? Hell, I'm a child of the 70's mate...
Anyway...I am glad you are enjoying the pictures...

interesting stuff you guys are doing.
I think it's NEAT-O
For most of us, it's our only way of looking like the soldiers you see in films. It takes years of hard training and skill, not to mention being American too!
As berkal said, "We are just a couple of wannabes who enjoy dressing up like our heroes"
We haven't earned the right to wear insignia and I'm sure i'm not the only one with the highest regard for those who have!
