So my Dad is in New Orleans still and he called me up today and was telling me some stuff. Turns out we accepted help from Russian and an An-124 is in New Orleans right now. My Dad got about five pictures of it parked on the runway. Expect to see them when he gets home.

Utah received 1000+ survivors from N.O. and put them all in Camp Williams, a National Guard training camp 10 miles from where I live. Since I had nothing to do in Labor Day weekend(yeah, I have no life), so I volunteered to show them around CW because I know this place like the back of my right hand. I think Utah just quadruple their african american population when the survivors got off the planes at Hill AF base.

Me: "OK folks, this area is prohibited. You will be shot if you trespassing beyond this point. Only military personel with proper authorization can have access beyond this point."
Everybody: "ohhh....ahhhhh"
p-)

p.s. don't call them refugees because they'll get pissed off. They prefer "evacuees" or "survivors"

Are you sure it's from the Russians? I know there is a couple of An-124's run by a British company that flew over there

:backhand: :backhand:

I had a chance to talk to a few of them. Most of them were homeless back home. A few of them should be in a mental hospital.

You can see the Red Cross in the background.

A Dutch company who is hired to set up a mortuary (a mortuary tent) needs antonovs to get all the stuff to the US. Apparently it takes them something like 5 flights or so to have all the material there to build a tent.

It's actually quite impressive to see how many countries are willing to help us. Even Cuba. That was a shocker.
