The Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel's internal security force, Sin Bet, cooperated to assassinate Yehiya Ayyash, Hamas' legendary bomb maker who was blown up this month, U.S. officials said.

One counterterrorism source said it was the PLO that finally located the Gaza Strip home of a former college roommate where Israel's most wanted man was hiding. 'They [the PLO] found him'...

Another government source...confirmed the PLO assisted the Shin Bet, which supplied the ****y-trapped cellular phone that was delivered to the bomber.

...Shortly before the assassination there was a startling disclosure of the extent of cooperation between the PLO and Sin Bet in earlier operations.

Appearing in a closed session before Israel's parliament, Shin Bet's chief, Karmi Gillon, disclosed that the PLO had helped thwart as many as 80 suicide attacks on Israeli targets last year... Gillon...also praised Arafat for bunting the militant opposition groups, Hamas and Islamic Jihad, in the Gaza and West Bank areas controlled by the PLO, according to leaked reports of the meeting.

In the days immediately following the assassination of Ayyash it is important to note that a donor's group meeting in Europe, with much Israeli encouragement, gave $1.37 billion to Arafat and his Palestinian Authority.

He was given a cell phone by his friend. Or they blew up the cell phone after finding his number.

The PLO might of collaborated with shin bet because they are known to collaborate with israel against their own people.

His uncles gave him the loaded cell phone. A reconnaiscense plane flew over the building, they called him, he answered the call, and the reconasance place sent the signal to the cell thats its time to self-destruct, and make the "engineer" loose some of his brains.

Power struggle within the Palestinian hierarchy. No more, no less. Apparently the PLO felt threatened by Hamas's increasing influence and used Israel as a temporary ally to wipe out a competitor for the adoration of the masses.

He got the cell from a relative, and the phone exploded.
