The BBC documentary "Chechnya, The Dirty War" is rather poor video quality. The documentary itself is heavily biased against Russians (for example it says that the reason for the second war was apartment building explosions that were blamed on the chechens, no mention of the Daghestan invasion whatsoever, no mention of the fact that the actual perpetrators of the explosions were apprehended and found guilty in a court of law). So like with many modern war documentaries that are not free from political bias/agenda, this one is best watched on mute :)

Well, I have tons of stuff but I guess that is nothing you want to show in your class. Anyway, send me email or PM and specify little bit more your ideas. I will help you with that ... if possible.

Thanks for the videos (yet again)
I watched two so far, the first Afghan Massacre: The Convoy of Death . The quality was ok, wasnt the greatest as far as the white balancing goes (as many times it would show a map and my screen would "white out" making it hard to see). If watched at not full screen I'm sure the quality would improve.

I then watched Chechnya The Dirty War, the quality wasnt much better but it was slightly. It seems that theres a translator for the hearing impared that appears at the bottom right hand of the screen when the talkings not subtitled. Wasnt very factually accurate, but made a good watch just for the gear.

CAG, if you come across feel more feel free to post them. Althought this thread may not be as popular as the "Kim Jong Ill" videos for some odd reason.... I enjoy the ones I've seen so far and look forward to watching the rest. Heck, maybe I might learn something at some point p-)

Afghan Massacre: The Convoy of Death (http://www.mininova.org/get/73141) (225 MB)

The Mazar-E-Sharif battle prt of this video is really interesting, it shows a bit more of the fighting and the SBS (SAS?) men than the TV newschannel shown some years ago...

Ps. Great links CAG... Thanks! :)

THE HISTORY OF THE LUFTWAFFE (http://www.mininova.org/get/93803) (3.72 GB)

THE HISTORY OF THE LUFTWAFFE

From the ashes of the fires lit in the dog-fights of
the skies above the carriage of World War One, a phoenix would
rise - the Luftwaffe of the Third Reich. No ordinary force,
the Luftwaffe was to become the handmaiden of Hitler's dream
of conquest and a vital component of "Blitzkrieg" or
"Lightning War".However the glories won in Poland, Scandinavia,
Holland, Belgium and finally France, as the Nazis marched,
victorious, through Europe, were to turn sour. The Fuehrer's
continual demands upon his airforce, as he fanatically pursued
his "Grand Design" forced the Luftwaffe into the role of
workhorse, though incompetence, intrigue and greed amongst
its commanders made the task near impossible.Starved of new
planes and pilots to fly them, stretched across two fronts in
Europe and playing a vital role in North Africa, Goering's
elite corps was fatally flawed. This tragic story chronicles
the initial brilliant succcess of the Luftwaffe in Europe,
its structure and tactics and the inherent weaknesses that
were to drag the phoenix once again to its inescapable
consummation within the fires of Berlin. The story is told
using very rare footage only recently obtained from the eastern
block and not seen in the west since the war.

PBS NOVA The Great Escape avi (http://www.mininova.org/get/89057) (700 MB)

"The movie The Great Escape captured the courage and remarkable genius behind World War II's most infamous prison break. Now join three Allied prisoners and a team of archaeologists as they travel back to the site of the high-security POW camp Stalag Luft III to search for the secret tunnel the Nazis never found.

More than sixty years ago, over six hundred Allied prisoners banded together to dig three highly sophisticated tunnels, code-named Tom, ****, and Harry. Each tunnel was outfitted with railways, electric lights, and underground air pumps --all under the noses of the German Guards. The detainees were planning to spring two hundred men via Harry on the moonless night of March 24, 1944. Unfortunately, a guard spotted the seventy-seventh man as he exited the tunnel beyond the perimeter fence, but sixty-six managed to get away, fanning out in all directions and forcing the German army to undertake a massive manhunt. And in the ensuing search of the camp, the guards never found the ingeniously hidden tunnel ****.

Today, a truly historic past is buried deep below the surface of the tranquil countryside of what was Stalag Luft III. As heavy equipment removes treacherously sandy soil, dramatic recreations and candid recollections from the veterans offer stunning details about the prisoners' ingenious and ambitious tunneling plans, and retells the tragic story of the many escapees who were recaptured by the Germans."
