I think that if the Tercio is one of the Spanish Army finest units, BOEL is probably the finest SOF.My Galician Grandfather served in the Tercio during the Rif rebellion and later during the spanish civil war. He always used to said that he left his home in Galicia as a boy and went to the tercio to become a man among men. Deeply influenced by him I have always liked to see this unit ( with an unusual spirit de corps ) changing through the last years, keeping tradition and modern tactics together.

In mi family we are all in the arm, weel i'm preparing th exam to enter next year in Academia General Militar de Zaragoza.
They were all in mountain rangers anybody in the legion, my grand father war in mountain rangers as liutenant, captain and general of division.
I like mountain rangers but also Spanish Legion, i've still five years but is a diffucult choice.:(
For you sccone yuo have said that you are in spanish navy, in wich ship?

I Studied Medicine and joined the navy later.I have served in the 31st Frigate Sq. during the 80's(F74 Asturias), and of course, I joined the J.S. Elcano crew during my trainning.So just imagine my grandfather when he saw me wearing the navy uniform...,he said , I would prefer to see you wearing the Tercio colours :D .

I wish you good luck in your exams, It's hard to live in the armed forces (as you should Know because of your family ), sometimes the civils don't understand our way of life,but it's good to see young people like you loving their country , something very strange in these days.

Look , I'll give an advice : If there's something in this life that you really like, never, I said, never give up until you get it. Como dijo Cela, en este país el que aguanta, triunfa.I Know it's hard, but life is that way in and out of the Armed Forces.And the ones like you who feel the army flowing in their veins , who really like what they are doing,... well my friend, the sort of people like you can do anything they like to.
When I left my university I didn't Know what to do, I was very worried about my future but a friend of mine told me about the chance of joining the FAS as doctors, so here I am. I had a lot of chances , stay in the univ., get into a civil hospital, research...but for some reason I felt that living in the navy would be my future.It is of course different from your case , you are going to be a "pure" officer, but remember my advice.
Never give it up my friend. That's the style ok?

Thanks for your support, I know that i will enter in the army or in Spanish marines(in the Navy and AF i can't cause of the vue), I know tahat i'm gonna enter thos year(ihope) if not the next but i wil sereve spain in the army, i'm sure since i was 5 year old.I will study as i'd never do.

Not exactly.

The old BOEL has been converted on GOE XIX and integrated in the MOE (Special Operations Command) with the GOE III and GOE IV all based at the Alferez Rojas Navarrete Military Base - Rabasa (Alicante).

The unit lost its previous Legionary character, while most of its components were transfered to anothers units of the Legión, specially to the X Bandera "Millán Astray".

a friend of mine was sent to this unit just after his studis at Zaragoza and 3 months later it lost his Legionnaire character.:)
