When was the AN/PEQ-2 first used and is there a design for a new replacement for it?And,in your opinion, give me what you believe would be the perfect combo of accessories for the M4 SOPMOD.You can use anything that can be fitted on the piccatinny rail system.

is there a design for a new replacement for it
From http://www.geocities.com/equipmentshop/ :
In my opinion, we need ONE laser beam emittor, an "AN/PAQ-2000" so to speak, that can either project a visible or invisible red dot, or broad IR illumination. And it needs a powerful flashlight built-in which can accept colored lenses. It needs both a pressure switch and a steady on/off switch. This replaces the AN/PAQ-4C and AN/PEQ-4, the myriad visible laser sights and the cumbersome flashlight mounts. The projected dot is useful for close-range, fast moving situations where you are moving too fast to aim/shoot but need to place-the-dot/shoot. The OICW folks say that's what they achieve with their integrated electronics package on top of their new weapon, though its monstrously too heavy

So theres the awnswer for a potential replacement. As for what I think should be on the M4 SOPMOD:
- Aimpoint Red Dot Sight http://www.aimpoint.com/products/compml2/firstcompml2.htm
- SOPMOD Shortened M203 w/ QD Mount
- M203 Leaf Sight(Top mounted)
- PEQ Infrared Laser(Right mounted) http://www4.aixgaming.com/opend/Special_Forces-Philippines/a_sfp15?full=1
- Visible Laser(Where to mount??)
- Surefire M97 Flashlight(Left mounted) http://www.san.surefire.com/cgi-bin/main.pl?pgm=co_disp&func=displ&sesent=0,0&carfnbr=267

Zach R: You sound like you are attempting to initiate a legit argument
I HATE AIRSOFT!
Why? You like military infantry/sf stuff such as video games, movies, etc. Do you not? Airsoft is just another aspect of the military fanaticism. What is it about airsoft you dont like? Training for a combat situation can only be trained in so many ways. Here are the following according to realism:
1. Shooting real steel weapons, live fire exercises, etc.
2. MILES Laser Engagement System
3. Simunitions
4. Airsoft
5. Paintball
As you can see, airsoft is up with the high ranks of military training tools. Its only natural that a civilian would like to play airsoft becuase he cannot get his hands on fullautomatic weapons and/or MILES/Simunitions and paintball guns are unrealistic
I've already went off on a guy who said that in the photos section
What did he say? Something about airsoft?
let me try something that does not offend guys who watch MTV for news about the war
If you are referring to me thats false. I primariliy watch CNN/FOX/MSNBC/CSPAN for news. I wanted to see some 101st action, and I got it from MTV
Name your favorite weapon, sidearm, whatever.JUST PLEASE STOP CRITISIZING ME FOR A EASY,SIMPLE QUESTION!
 Whos critisizing you for what?
Airsoft is cool, I'd like to try it!
Heres how:
1. Get a gun. Start with a starter package: http://airsoftextreme.com/beginner.html Id recommend the airborne infantry/sf standard M4 SOCOM/SOPMOD "TM M4-A1 RIS - $445 shipped"
2. Join a team. Where do you live? Check out http://www.airsoftplayers.com/links/showsub.asp?CatID=92&cat=Team for teams or join the 1st national airsoft organization: http://usairsoftcorps.com/
No official Air Soft where I live. It was hard enough for people to have paintball allowed.
When I talked to the police officer in charge of firearms in my area regarding paintball he told me to buy a shotgun and shoot geese. You can imagine my frustration.

Visible Laser(Where to mount??)
I use a Laser Devices Universal AR Laser that mounts on the front sight tower of my M4. It frees up the top rail to mount my reflex as far forward as possible. If you have the proper creds you can get this as a IR laser, civs just can get as a red dot vis laser. It does not interfear with mounting of a m203 with QD mount if I want or need that particular combo. I normaly mount my flashlight on the bottom rail so the center of the beam is on target, not off to the side. Its six of one, half dozen of the other. Bottom mounting is the current trend in the Ranger Regiment, and after talking to a couple Batt boys I tried this setup and liked it.
