@ Nrom: Why do you want to turn everything into pissing contest eh? Its childish game, ill understood patriotism probably in your case. After some time you learn to choose the best options disregarding less important factors. Russians make some good gear - and noone is questioning that, but "best" its just overstatement. Their webbing isn't too good however its quite durable. And yes, I used/know it. For example - "Partizan" and winter "Blot" camo suits are very good items, but I prefer western webbing.

It seems Russia got new digitalized camo oversuits, I've never seen it before (it seems to be modernized version of KLMK classics). Nice pattern for spring - any more details, photos of it Budanov? :)

Is it me, or the Partizan pattern is heavily influenced by some WWII SS camo patterns, more specifically Oak Leaf B?

Also, is that at the front an obvious copy of the British DPM pattern?

Catch22
09-16-2005, 08:02 PM
In both cases answer is "yes". It is Current variant of SS pattern, and it is a russian DPM variant, resembling early 65 pattern..

The partisan suit is also reverisible, one side "summer pattern" the other "fall" (wasnt the german version reversible?). I really should've bought one when I had the chance :(

The dpm version is a "copy", but used in a much different cut then your standard uniform (russian splav bekas cut).

I believe Russia is using titanium helmets, am I right?

If so, how did you solve the problems inherent with titanium? the Suiss Army tried titanium for their helmets in the 60s, but they found it to be weak against direct hits, dangerous because of the inner splinters and very costly.

Unless it's a russian knock-off, it looks like an Aerospatiale AS350 Ecureuil (http://www.combataircraft.com/aircraft/has350.aspx)(France, military variant called the Fennec), commonly used by LE in the US and Canada too.

The helmets worn by the Russian Airborne troops during the wargames in China are 6B7, most likely manufactured by Armocom (http://www.armocom.ru/6B7-1e.htm)
These are beginning to be issued en mass, many VDV, Naval Infantry and active duty troops in Chechnya already have them.

There is no uniform assault rifle for Spetsnaz. They use what they want.

AN-94 will not be used for general army use because it has too many small parts and it takes too long to get used to taking it apart. Some Spetsnaz use it ofcourse, others use AK-74M and some even used AKM because of its firepower...thats why the AK-101 is also used as its a 7.62mm modernized AKM for urban warfare.

Well, that not true. I like russian forces and i thing that they are pretty good, but I can´t understand the absence of real face camuflage.
More than hundred times, on trainings, i was able to spot "enemy" (especcially ones who don´t move) just because of their unpainted white faces - its like searchlight.

can i ask what sort of specnaz are they. Its looks to me like MVD specnaz, but I am not sure.¨
And, if i am right, what unit they belongs to? vitiaz or other one?

BTW, Its just me, or is true that plenty of MVD pics is availble, but almost none photos of VDV, especcialy 45.VDV ORPSN, and almost none photos of members of GRU brigades can by found?

Does anyone know if russian spetsnaz or russian military have or is using digital camouflage.

desantnik85
02-17-2006, 05:11 AM
If you mean "digital" as in like marpat or canpat, then no, I've never seen that sort of cammo either manufactured or worn in Russia.

Some people refer to the 1960's onwards KLMK/sun ray/sun bunny variants as "digita pixel" but they arent as such, just looks a bit pixel like. Some Russian units use this pattern on their new made BDU's.
