The test was done in 64km/h, the car partialy hit a barrier and its roof collapsed, the wheel, roof and middle part of the car collapsed and fataly injured the driver. The chances of surviving such an accident in this car are very low, this accident will cause serious damage to the driver's hands, chest, legs and head. The passenger will sustain hard injuries in the limbs, chest, ankles and head.

The vehicle recieved 1 point of possible 16 in front crush, in side crush it got 12 points of 16, and in passengers safety 13 out of 37.

ADAC says that the vehicles' results are catastrophical and they have not seen in the last 20 years a vehicle doing so poorly on the crush test.

I bet someone tricked that car to fold as harmony, and I suspect those weasel Germans :). At 60 km per hour virtualy no car that will not fall apart on the road will do such mayhem to itself, even its Chinese and made of horse ****.

Hmmm, they started 20 years ago, and vehicle safety wasn't that great at that time. Five years is an exaggeration, it will take them a long time.

Have you ever seen a crash movie from the 60ies? i would say that the chine’s car have about the same safety as European car from the 80ies and I agree with Weasel give them five years and they are building cars with the same safety as we do

sorry i forgot, we used to go out to the market in afghanistan and get parts we needed for our camp such as door knobs, light bulbs, chicken wire and such. 9 times out of ten the item we bought was destroyed after a week or 2, espc the door knobs. i got so good at changing them i could change 5 in 20 minutes.

Propably does. Honda is allready building a lawsuit against some Chinese company because their car is a direct copy of the Honda CR-V. The Chinese model is called SR-V.

You know.. Not all asian peoples are the same, really.. Just like europeans they all have different backgrounds, cultures, mindsets and skills.

So I wouldn't be so quick to compare chinese and japanese car manufacturing.

Do you have any other stereotypes about China?

Talk to businessmen who travel to China periodically. They will tell you that the Chines are building roads, skyscrapers, shipyards etc. in an amzing short period of time. China is booming like no other country.

And in contrast to your prejudices Chines learn quickly and will kick our asses soon.

You are such an unemployed infidel. The only time someone will kick your ass is if you let them.

I have friends studying and doing business in Shanghai. Not all of China is the same, and not all asians are the same. China have their weaknesses as well and the size of their economy is still only at the level of Italy.

Eventually their currency will get in the right level and eventually low cost manufacturers will leave for the next booming country.

But will China grow immensley? Yes. But this will also mean a growing market for european companies. China is already our second biggest company's second biggest market.

Yeah, sure, they tell me a lot of things, but once you get past the sale pitch, what you got is a trend, a transitory trend that is under poor management and a broken light bulb at the end of the tunnel that will eventually go dark someday. That is when the LED lit up in my head and it is off to Vietnam, or Philippine, or India, or Cambodia, etc. with cheaper labor and better political management.

It took several decades for Hyundai, the ugly, ugly stepchild of the automobile industry that no sane Americans would buy no matter for how cheap, to get to where it is today against the European, Japanese and U.S. automakers. With those establish brands now deeply and continually entrenching themselves in the U.S. and European domestic markets, to think the Chinese will get there overnight in five years is a sad, bad and uneducated joke. Hyundai started their push at least with a major semblance of originality in design and goal, China got a long, long, long, long, long way to go.

This is a prize for becoming a notable player in the automobile market around this part of the wood...by INVESTING IN THE US! (http://www.hyundaiusa.com/about/us_investment/us_investment.asp) Got to love the irony.

The sad, bad and uneducated joke comes from an expert of german automobile club.

I know itīs a long way to go for a automobile branch to be competative. US cars as well as others didnīt achived this aim up to now.

But China, if you like it or not, will become a serious competitor.

Simply because they are startups they can waiver on safety ?

Tell that to the first person who gets killed .
There is no excuse to say we are going to accept that this car only uphold safety standards from the 80's.

The only reason anyon will buy it , is becuse they are wagging a pretty much unbeatabl face price war.FOr under 14k euro, you have your landwind SUV . And since every joe moe and harry wants their SUV they are going to make a fortune.

I saw a video though of the crash test. The steering wheel column came right up into the drivers forward pushing face, and the head rest came forward and the same time to form a perfect sandwich. Head in the middle.

I wouldnīt buy this car. But some people will. Letīs wait if the car will be allowed in Europe. If not China will overhaul the whole car and will try it again.

It is allowed already, I saw a show on it last night. 200 vehicles have ben sold already in germany IIRC. Further 500 on order.

Th guy who was interviewed was asked whether he would still buy the car, after knowing it had been given the thumbs down by germany biggest autoclub, and he still would have bought it.
All he looked at was the 14k pricetag, and was willing to take the chances.
Sad really.

Just get teh video if it available and compare what the vehicle does on impact with other SUV's.
It'll scare the pants off ya.

I know the video. Thatīs why I wouldnīt buy such a car. But as you can see some people are only interested in a very low price.

In Germany we have special cars for kids between 16 and 18 years. They can have a driving license allowing them to drive these special cars (which are able to reach a max. speed up to 45 km/h, I thing).

These small cars have also very bad results in the crash test.

Yep, that's an old Isuzu Rodeo with a diesel Isuzu engine or a petrol Mitsubishi engine.

Anyway, if someons is stupid enough to buy this car, than he should go ahead, I doubt he'll kill any other driver with this car, he will only hurt himself.
