Does anyone know when Crye will begin to resume sales of their Multicam BDUs? They say that will happen once their new website goes up, but does anyone with contacts in the defense industry know when that happens?

They went bankrupt, and no longer will produce multicam because the acu is superior! Read that somewhere... ;)

No, it's true. The Army spec'ed the pattern for Crye, and owns the patenting for the Multicam pattern and brand name.
The folks in charge pulled the authorization for Crye to use the name and pattern, and they withdrew all gov't funding from the company. Most of their backing was the OFW program, so they're basically out of business.
Looks like ACU is IT now, huh?
just kidding ;)

So in retrospect, what you are saying is that ACU pawns Multicam?

The full quote is "Cry 'Havoc!' and let slip the dogs of war." It's from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.

OK Guys, I spoke to Cryer last week for an hour on the phone. The new girl Angelic, very nice, told me that they were sooo back logged with orders that they closed the site until 1 October. Then they would relaunch the site, and start taking new orders... but to let you know a little point, I made about $20,000 order with them at the begining of this year, and they haven't even been able to start filling my order yet. They have caused me so much greaf... Anyway, just a few more days longer and you will have you chance toorder, but I don't think it will help much, they will still not have very much stock, and the end porduct is ****... too hot, to bulky, and too expencive... but good luck anyway...

Would you expand on hot and bulky. I was considering a pair of the khaki trousers.
Thanks.

Can someone tell me what european shop took some orders @ Crye for multicam BDU's?? (Swiss is NOT Europe..so please no Swiss shops, they still got there borders closed...Ordering from The States would be cheaper, USimport is rated at a lower taks than SwissImport in Belgium)

I have both the combat and the field uniforms and both of them started falling apart after the first wash. VERY dissapointed. My field uniform saw about 8 days of moderate field use and most of the velcro started coming undone. The combat uniform was even worse, the adjustment straps on the knee's both tore off on day 1. The stiching at the knee where the Cordura and the NYCO meet came undone on the right leg after my second time going ****e.
I'm going to say that without a doubt, my $50 BDU's out-performed the Crye uniforms, HANDS DOWN.
Don't waste your money or your patience for the Crye stuff. Get the Ops BDU's from DropZone up in Canada. They are WELL WORTH the money. Much more so than the ones from Crye.

The khaki trouser are lighterbecause they use a high nylon % material.. but the have the same cut.. Black Dog, sorry I can't help you because I'm located in CH, but we are the main importer or someday will be, when they start sending the stuff..
Desertpilot, your 100% right, I'll stay with my BDUs and be happy, I do like the new ACUs and I wish someone would make them in the ACU pattern...

Kevin Costner's quote was far better
"Once more unto the breach dear friends once more, or fill the wall with our dead. In peace nothing so becomes a man as modesty and humility. But when the blast of war once again sounds in our ears, let us not shy away, but rather imitate the actions of the tiger and lend the eye a terrible aspect."

The material is similar to that of old woodland utilities, rather than the ripstop kind. It is hot, but mine have been very durable.
The shirt is made of a much lighter material, almost like a dress shirt. I haven't had to put mine thru any real paces yet, but i suspect that my 5.11 shirt is much more durable.

Not trying to keep pluggin myself here but i have a set of multicam and khaki field clothes and reviewed them on my site. Crye Precision review (http://www.diytactical.com/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=64&Itemid=84)
I need to update the review but I emailed Crye and got a response stating that they had a defect in the stitching and would be hapy to replace them for me. Anyway long story and I'll save it for the update.
The Khaki are 50/50 ploy/cotton no nylon in the khaki the multicam is nylon cotton. At least that is what the tags say. The shirt is much thinner than the pants. The multicam is warm but bearable i've had no problems wearing it. i do notice the heat in the knee area where the cordura is.
I like the style and layout of the field clothes but don't know if i would buy from them again.
However the multicam pattern is far supperior to the ACU that pattern is garbage. i see it here in the field daily and is is certainly not good in the desert and i am going to give an educated guess that is it crap in the woods as well. I think it was the armys way of jumping on the digital pattern band wagon. it is a novelty

Nice review - it's interesting to hear different opinions from different sources on the quality of the pants/shirts. Especially from those who are actually wearing them on a regular basis.
You might want to get someone to proof-read the reviews tho - just an observation.
I've got 2 pairs of MultiCam pants - the Combat Pants from Crye and a second pair made from a local Canadian contractor. I share your sentiment that the pants - especially the knees - run warm. Not that they would be effective at the time, I seriously doubt I will be wearing the Crye pants in the summer.
Poly/Co - what's up with that???

Another quote in hope to keep you from insulting the memory of The Bard:
'But, pardon, gentles all, the flat, unraised spirits who hath dared, on this unworthy scaffold, bring forth so great an object'
