Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am making a point, so here goes.

IN the beginning, AQ was about fighting the infidels.
THe US infidels, attacking Iraq. They came to the hand of their muslim brothers.

Now AQ seem to make the destinction between one muslim brother to another.
Shiite = Infidel
Sunni = Brother

It seems they wish to start a intra-islam war based on factions.

I for some reason perceive a simularity between their idea of separating Islamic factions, and the occupiers.
I make the comparison exactly to the Northern Ireland conflict.
The UK as the occupier, and the Catholic and Protestant factions of Christianity.
The US are the occupiers , and the Shiite and Sunni factions of Islam.

They may be thousands of kilometers away, and in a different environment and history , yet I think they have simular characteristics.

Fighting against envisioned occupiers and inter-faction fighting.

I must admit my knowledge about the Northern Ireland conflict is very limited, so possibly there are many different things that make the larger comparison invalid and stupid.

What do you think about the comparison ?

UK is the occupier??? Says who? The majority of Northern Ireland would disagree with you btw.

Uk as a whole was the wrong word to chose, I meant more the military.
And not neccessarily in a occupying role either, since it was in its own country.
It had like the US, both parties going after it.
Man in the middle would be more appropriate.

The comparison in itself is a little stretched and far fetched,the more applicable comparison would be Protestants / Catholics vrs Shiites/Sunnis.

From one point of view its a very good thing if they especialy if this sunni/shiite war spreead on whole musilm community in the world. It might appear cruel and immoral, but if they kill each other they will be too busy to kill us.
From other view point we all know that religious war is the bloodiest kind of war. Both sides will propably use any kind of weapon they can get including NBC and they will not care much who is in the line of fire.

The last thing we need is for this kind o stuff to spea throughout the world.
Then you might have people shooting each other on your own bloody streets.
