View Full Version : S.W.A.T. Trailer
So it looks like Sony has put out the full length trailer for S.W.A.T.. It has a bunch of good actors in it like Colin Farell and Samuel L. Jackson, but as soon as I saw L.L. Cool J my cheese meter spiked. From the events in the trailer, which include what appear to be full scale terrorist actions, wouldn't stuff like that be enough to summon the military? It's been a while since I've read up on what the limit is for the size of an operation before it moves from the local police level, to the armed forces. Anyone know? Concerning the trailer, I'm going to have to give it 3 out of 5 cheeses on my cheesy meter for going a bit over the top.

I'm not going to put too much faith into it, but I've seen movies with really stupid, over-the-top trailers actually be pretty good (Tears of the Sun).

haha if this movie were true, it would show a bunch of 40 year old overweight cops who are ex military (prob some crap-ass job) and think they are badass when they arn't which can be bad in real situations... like the time they busted into the wrong apartment in boston and an elderly man died of a heart attack because he was so shocked.....

Michelle Rodriguez? I wonder if her eyebrow went down....
From the guys who made Fast and the Furious and Triple X? Oh man, then it's going to be good and true to life! ;)

well'p, there goes the future of the S.W.A.T program, thanks hollywood
Now we're going to have a bunch of little L.L. Cool J's running around wanting to be "SWAT" :fork:
These "SWAT" team members look so "stylish", almost like the French rofl

The federal LE agencies would get invovled long before the military...
and I dont know very many fat overweight swat cops. I guess that depends on the agency.
I imagine this movie will be entertaining. It cant possibly be as rank as that tears of the sun fiasco.
Not to say they're fat, but one of the funniest lines of that Combat Mission series a while back on USA, was when the people just arrived at the camp. The CO told them to take a 4 mile run around the base. One of the SWAT guys said half way through it, panting and wheezing, "What's with all this running? We just DRIVE to the location..."

So does Jackson play a baddie...seeing as he hates the US government...
Yeah, you'd think that the anti-war attitudes of the various celebrities would affect the movie roles that they agree to star in. Susan Sarandon, one of the biggest anti-war celebrities out there recently, was just in Children of Dune, where she plays a warmongering queen who wants to take control of the planet that provides the spice, which is crucial to the galaxy. The whole story is a thinly veiled allusion to spice equaling oil.... That she would take that role with her real world attitudes is rather hypocrtitical.
Well, if *I* were an actor I'd take good character roles that would conflict with my opinions. As log as they're good and not simple propaganda...
But, I'm not an actor...

Ahhh, the power of the almighty dollar triumphs again.
pardon my French, but I hate that bitch.
Ah, yes, isn't it funny how materialistic those damn socialists are? ;)

They call it "acting" for a reason. ;-) I don't know about you guys, but for a million dollars I'd wear a hippie wig and protest a White House prop. I wouldn't cry when you didn't pay eight bucks to see it, either...

If she had given some thought about the role, she may have done it precisely to discredit leaders who are concerned with power, etc. etc. more than the welfare of the citizens, and to equate the current administration with the Corrino princess. It's like Alan Alda in Murder on 1600 (?--I think that's the movie--it also has Wesley Snipes and Diane Lane)--he plays this conservative who plots to fix a murder on the president so he can get the president out of power, because he's too much of a "dove." Perhaps actors play characters who espouse opposite political views precisely to portray them in an unflattering light.
They've posted a new trailer for this here:

The cheese is still there, but the action should be satisfying.

Ugghhh...
Killing tickles me. :bash:
And the bad guy (as always) just happens to be of the same proffesion, SWAT.
The action would be good, but since theres so much cheese I will just end up rooting for the bad guy. And we already see what happens to him in the end.

Apparently you've never seen most actual SWAT teams. As far as I can see the guys in the SWAT movie are based on the LAPD SWAT Platoon. They are about as far from overweight losers as you can get. LAPD SWAT has trainined with the 22 SAS, GSG-9, The FBI HRT, DEVGRU and Delta. Some of hte west coast SEAL teams still send their guys out to get training from them.
It really depends on where you go. The larger departments such as LA, Miami, NYC, and Dallas have some of the best SWAT guys in the country and they probably see more real deal action (especially with CQB) than certain military counterparts. As far as certain skills go, they probably can shoot with the military guys but physically as a whole, they could never keep up with most military units. With that said, it really does depend on the department because here in NC at the capital, the SRT guys are primarily ex military and still keep in pretty good shape. Naturally, I always favor the military but I will say that it has to be a tough job to be a cop, especially a SWAT cop.
