Bin Laden Aide Is Caught in Iraq

By NADIA ABOU EL-MAGD, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The minister in charge of Iraqi police said Monday that al-Qaida was probably behind some suicide bombings in Iraq (news - web sites), and President Bush (news - web sites) praised the capture of a senior member of Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s network.

"There is a presence of al-Qaida in this country. We've announced that directly and indirectly," Interior Minister Nouri Badran said.

"A lot of the suicide attacks have the fingerprints of the crimes committed by al-Qaida," he added. Asked if al-Qaida is operating in Iraq, he said: "Yes, it is."

But he provided no evidence to back his claim. There was no immediate comment from U.S. military commanders.

During a visit to Little Rock, Ark., on Monday, Bush said Hassan Ghul was captured in Iraq last week.

"He was a killer. He was moving money and messages around South Asia and the Middle East to other al-Qaida leaders. He was a part of this network of haters that we're dismantling," Bush said.

Iraq has witnessed a number of devastating suicide vehicle attacks since the ouster of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s regime in April — attacks aimed at both coalition forces and their Iraqi allies.

A few non-Iraqi Arab and foreign fighters have been detained or killed in Iraq since the fall of Baghdad, but coalition forces have been reluctant to clearly say if they were part of or directly linked to al-Qaida.

Now that old Saddam and the gang are all gone I would imagine the present environment in Iraq will provide a healthy recruiting ground for holy warriors.

will provide a healthy recruiting ground for holy warriors.

As well as a healthy resting place for these terrorists.

Well Al Q are every where so finding one in Iraq is no great surprise its probaly safer for them there now than its ever been what with no Bathists running about trying to kill them and the general disruption that occurs after a conflict will certainly help them move among the populace. :|

kind of makes sense really, when you think there was no love lost between Saddam and Bin Laden, what better way to undermine the efforts of the coalition, and to strike at the US ,by suicide bombers who neither care whether they kill Iraqi's or Foreign Troops!
Now that Saddam has gone they are free to carry out their terror acts, and whilst the country is still in dissaray,it's the perfect opportunity to strike at the American orginisation within Iraq.

Osama Bin Ladens Holy Warriors aee probley all headed to Iraq now now to "liberate" Iraq but just to kill as many Americans as possible.

Back in 1991 Osama wanted his holy warriors to defend Saudi Arabia agaisnt Saddams forces but the Saudis let the Americans in instead.

thats one of the main reasons Al Qeada hates the U.S

That's exactly why they're there. You want to kill Americans? Go to where the Americans are. Much easier than trying to fly to NYC.

I don't think that this effort would get welcomed by Saudi Arabia , sence he got in very bad relations with the royal family . And there are "El-Kaida" fighters pretty much all over the places in this world (you name it , middle east , africa , probably even in west Europe , offcorse helping the Kavkazian effort ) , his El-Kaida (the list ) is the real definition of "worldwide terror (net) " .

Yeah he wanted to bring a lot of the same guys that beat the Soviets in and defend all the holy sites.

But when Westerners were defending them........

well you know
