I was just reading some posts here and this word came up like a swarm of fat kids when they smell ice cream. Unless I am mistaken, it means that one is afraid of other peoples, not just dislike them. I think that many here have been using this word incorrectly.
Discuss.

literally it means fear of aliens. aliens ussualy being foreigners. but its been also used to express dislike of foreigners just like the term homophobia: people ussualy arent affraid of homo******s they just dont like them. homophobia is more of a misused term than xenophobia in the terms that when someone is xenophobic they ussualy dont like a person from a hostile country meaning that they can also be affraid of that person and despise him/her for that.

minor addition
i should ve said "thoughts of foreigners coming into country with malicious, or generaly destructive plots against society" instead of "foreigners coming from a hostile country" -- wich could also mean coming into country and acting very uncivilized.
