What you can see from the pics..
Iranians arent being that orginal..
Just copying German, Russian and Chinese products..
Even those 60mm mortars are copies of some western designs.. i just cant remember their orginal name / nation..
Only the boats / ships are of Iranian design i think..
And maybe some of the 107mm rocket mounts..
and those 38mm things (rifle and pistol.. well at least the pistol..)..

Hell, chinese products are knockoff's of russian stuff, so the iranians have like 3rd generation weaponry.
Anyone have some Iranian naval pics? They are mustering a pretty good diesel sub fleet, and they have some old US landing craft. Whats the most powerful warship they have?

Blue water capable destroyers and frigates..
At least they had those in 90s..
Destroyers:
Damavand (British Battle) class
Babr (US Allen M Summer) class
Frigates:
Saam (British Vosper Mark 5) class
Bayandor (US PF 103) class
But they might have gotten new ships also..
This info is 1992..

Well..
Russian KILOs are the best they have..
And KILOs are among if not the best SSK around..

Iran has three Type 877EKM

Well, I see alot of old but good here and some interesting stuff that US troops could use. For example the "commando mortar" is neat. Reminds me of the much feared "knee poper" Japanese mini mortar used in World War 2 island campaign. BTW, it was called the knee poper because it was rumored in American forces that you could crouch and fire the weapon perched on your leg. Well, sure enough various units spread out over various islands captured the weapon beforei t became general knowledge not to do this and this led to several serious injuries like..you guessed it..busted knees and legs. I think the brits have something like this system too. I hear they like it!! Maybe its time US troops got a mini mortar. It could be useful in certain situations where the m203 is not!! Also the HK G3 rifle is very nice. The Mp5 clone aint bad either for cqb. The Mg3 is a very very good MG. The US M60 was basically a failed attempt to copy the Mg3 hehe. Well maybe not "failed" but a flawed attempt to copy it anyway. Also, if they had maintained them over the years (kinda difficult after Iranian rev. soured US relations though) they at one point had some F-14's which are still quite nice by most of the rest of worlds standards. In short, I see nothing to really laugh at here. Its at least a somewhat respectable array of hardware. I question more the skill and bravery of the men behind it than the hardware as most of it seems to be designed to withstand harsh conditions, poor maintanance, and sluggish replacement system anyway............Im aware that Iranians fought like hell agaisnt Iraqi's and many fought to death but that was under conditions of being shot if they retreated half the time. Im not so sure they would be so willing to fight if they knew that at the very least the US wasnt going to stop until the current govnt was taken down though............

I wasnt saying that their products are crap..
Just pointing out that they arent 'theirs'..
And G3, MP5 and MG3 are among the best weapons in their classes..
So..
;)
And PRG-7 is still effective even against M1 Abrams..
rofl
And mortars of any caliber are effective and useful weapons..
:D
And what comes to IRIAF..
They have some good aircrafts.. like F-14s and MiG-29s..
Also.. they are making that new fighter based on MiG I-2000..
"Shafagh", based on MiG I-2000..

http://www.aeronautics.ru/img/img006/shafagh_iran_002.jpg
And of course they build their own SCUDs.. in large numbers..
"Shahab 3", Iranian SCUD variant with range of 1300km..

About Iran iraq war they (iran) were atacked and despite dificult condition and lack of equipment menaged to stop iraq and then counteratacked they even menaged to capture al-faw *****ula and reached outskirts of basra.... and remember that iraq had 4:1 superiority in tanks... also they were not forced to fight, during whole conflict there were a lot of local militia and volounteer units that supported regular army in fight and even sometimes they were key factor to archive tactical victory... and remember:
1. front line was very long... (border is several thousand km long)
2. iraq was supported by US and iran was under international embargo
3. Iran f-14 were for some time disabled becouse when US advisors leaved in 1979 they took documentation and some equipment with them....
4. It was iraq who first came with peace proposal since they lacked victories and long positional war was very exchausting for them... (also for iran but iran had harbors where they could sell oil and only iraqi port was under constant fire and iranian navy was very active...
so better read about it before ju judge them...

...Beside the big LERX like the Super Hornet, I find the similarity between the Mig I-2000 and the Raptor concerning the angular diamond-shape intake and rear section very interesting.

Are you suggesting something *quink, quink* between Iran and the insurgents in Iraq? Are you trying to provide the Imperialistic Yanks with a reason to march into Iran?

Aha! Yet another case of the Soviet Union/Russia copying the United States' planes!
Okay, don't jump me, all you Russian folks. I like you, I really do. Just a joke. :P
As an aside, how can Iran be developing a fighter based on a design that hasn't even entered prototype phase in Russia yet? And how are either of them going to afford it?!

No. Just saying to the imperial Yanks that the future Iranian insurgents will have these. :)
However three more 3 americans dead in Iraq today. Iraq is a little
****hole with US-friendly people compared to Iran. They won´t attack.

If some idea is good why not copy. Especially for cash strapped MiG holdings :)

Agreed to an extent.
I mean, the F-15 was an answer to the Foxbat. And the Sukhoi 27, in return, an answer to the F-15. And on and on.

so better read about it before ju judge them... The Iranian Revolutionary Guard were a bunch of pussies. Everytime we made contact with them(Operation Prime Chance/ Earnest Will) they would turn tail and hide. The biggest threat from the Iranians was the suicide boats known as boghammers(small swedish made PB's) that would attack International Oil tankers that would leave the Kuwaiti ports . When the tankers would leave Kuwait we would escort them through to safe passage. We would do what is known as MIO's (maritime interdiction operations) and usually fast rope onto the tankers and run up the American flag so the Iranians would realize that we were at least in the area. We were able to take out a few of the boghammers at times (one evening we took out 2).I was out there for a year on these Operations and it was very interesting to say the least!!

From what that page says, it has not reached prototype phase yet.
Granted, it could be outdated information or unreliable.

Hence MiG LFI (which stands for Light Tactical Fighter in Russian, I think)

EDIT: From Janes.com: http://www.janes.com/regional_news/europe/news_briefs/jdw980415_01.shtml
Says to be deployed in 2005. Hmmm....and the plot thickens.

Sure they would hide, how should the confront US warships ? What they did were Guerrilla hit and run attacks at tankers...
What means suicide boats ? To me nothing is known that they did such attacks, they had RPG's and other smaller rockets and missiles.

We were on a SpecOps barge, plausible deniability. They would use the boghammers to run into the sides of the tankers so the oil would not get out of the gulf region. You didnt know this cause you werent there. Many of the people around here think that all military operations are for them to know and when they didnt hear about it say I never heard that it must have never happened. I wish there was less info on these types of missions. The public doesnt need to know everything because if the truth came out about half of the **** that goes on they wouldnt be able to handle it cause it dont fit neatly into their little world!

I have seen and shot some of MP-5 looking Iranian made jobs..
they looked great till you get up close and hold'em. They were all stamped steel and parts that are removable on an MP5 are not were not on these...they had no straight lines on the weapon they were really a trip.
I just remembered the pistol grip was solid metal molded and covered in melted molded plastic.
Can't speak for all of them...but some that I saw were a little goofy..they did shoot though.. how accurate? I only shot 15 feet or so.
