This is what I was issued by the USMCR with the MOLLE System. As far as I know, they are still issuing this Camelback.

http://secure.specialtydefense.com/images/items/Hydration-(silo).jpgThis is exactly what the Marine Corp is issued. Nothing else is issued unless it is an individual or unit purchased item.

It's amazing what you can find using Google.

X2. I still have mine in the box. I hated carrying that thing. I went out and bought my own Camelback. Then again, most of us did.

Justy because it's named after the USMC doesn't mean they bought it. Go do a search on eBay for SEALs, Force Recon, etc and you'll find THOUSANDS of items that are named after units that were never issued to them. I didn't see anything on that website about it being issued to the Marines. And like I said, if they were issued, it wasn't Marine Corps-wide.

But then again, what do I know since I AM a US Marine.

"The word is getting out- militaries worldwide are making the switch to Source. The United States Marine Corps recently made the change, midway through a multi year contract."

That's from the Source's website, so I won't believe it until I see something official from the Marine Corps. Do you honestly believe that a company wouldn't do something like that in order to inflate their own sales or reputation? Reading something like that from a company's own literature should be considered biased and not taken as 100% true.

The above is just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

I'm in the Army and we got issued Camelbak M.U.L.E.s (pictured on the left).

About a month later we also got the ultra-plain model that Buckeye Doc posted...then a few weeks after that, I "inherited" an abandoned Thermobak (pictured on the right) from a unit that left a lot of equipment behind for use by the units to come after them (everyone does it).
Strangely enough, just this morning while re-inventorying the gear of a young lady who went AWOL earlier this year and was finally classified as a deserter this week, I came across her never-used M.U.L.E. which isn't accounted for anywhere on paper and would likely have wound up in the garbage...so now I have 4 Camelbaks.

i heard that USMC purchased 200,000 source hydration,
not sure which
and i think the Brit MOD bought 35,000
both are NSNed

and i heard not based on price ,
Source is being purchased by Defence Forces worldwide based on being better than Camelbak on an ongoing hygene basis amongsdt other design features.

US marines apparently had problems with nasties growing in camelbak in thre field in the Stan, alot of guys got sick.

i have used both ,at the end of the day they both carry water.

i agree Source will be blowing wind up its it own sales on that one,

i heard it from US guys i worked with a couple of years back ,they told me Camelbak was on the way out,
yet to be seen they are defainately the Known Brand

anymore Marines out there?

i agree with Molsen just because something is called someting doesn't mean its issue to that unit.

Its a big Corps maybe they went to clerks ?

i have an open mind on it,

just a few things i have heard

Normally it's a Camelbak in Coyote brown..it doesn't matter what type is is.
@ the USMC trials Camelbak made some nice Marpat woodland camelbak, just to try out of course. Afterwards the USMC decided that all their gear would be in Coyote Brown.
I'm one of the lucky ones to own a trial camebak in marpat woot .

I have yet to see any of those Source hydration systems that we are supposedly going to. I do know that we got bladders made by someone other than Camelbak that were made to put into the standard carrier as posted by buckeyedoc and molsen. However, they all failed and were then exchanged for Camelbak bladders. I honestly don't remember if they were Source bladders, but the name does sound familiar.
