read it and weep
Doesn't the sun have no credibility whatsoever?
But oh wait, so does other "real media". But still a tabloid? ;)

If the above is true, then the BBC (Grand Old Dame that it is) will lose much of its credibility as well.
And Tony will be off the hook! (At least for the time being. He still has to explain how the Americans managed to take him for a ride over WMD and Iraq.)

This is the BBC that posted a Internal memo saying that Saddam was not to be called a dictator, but a leader.
They need a good kick up the arse if you ask me :bash:
What's wrong with that though? Did it also mention not to call Blair "Bush jr. jr." or George "that idiot"? :P

Trevor Kavanagh is a repsected poiltical journalist so i wouldn't brush off this report as tabloid crap. If Kavanagh's report is genuine and not just an attempt to nit pick the good bits and ignore the critisms then it will be a fantastic week for Government and rightfully so.
Also the idea that the Government leaked a copy is absolute tosh, why would they leak a report that will be out in 24 hours, it doesn't seem to make any sense. I notice the tories are also once again out in full force with Liam Fox trying to say the government is lying and blah blah blah, change the record.

What planet do you live on exactly? Trevor Kavanagh is a tabloid hack.

Rightfully so????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? They're a bunch of cowardly, lying, cheating scum. They led us into an unnecessary war on the basis of unsubstantiated, single source intelligence. Then failed to procure the equipment to prepare us for the threat they claimed existed (NBC), as well as sufficient personal protective and vehicle protective equipment.

The government (probably) leaked the report in order to allow tame hacks (such as Kavanagh) to cherry pick the good bits, switch the pressure to the BBC and reduce the pressure of bufHoon and the other scum that run the MoD.
I noticed this on slashdot today. It's a "news for nerds" type of technology site:
"BBC has purchased keywords related to coverage of the Hutton Inquiry in an attempt to direct all traffic to their special news coverage. This would be only moderately interesting, except the BBC is complicit in the death of Dr. Kelly and the 'sexing up' of the Iraq dossier. The article in the Guardian says this is coming out of the GBP 63.5m ad budget. I wonder how much it would cost them if someone, say, automated searching for those links on Google." It doesn't seem fair to ****ounce the BBC complicit in Kelly's death (unless that's proven by the facts of the case), but it's certainly an interested party.

did anyone honestly expect a whitewash that blamed kelly and the BBC and let blair and Hoon of the hook. Interesting little story on the local news yesterday a group of Doctor's have called into question the results of Dr Kelly's post mortem.

A Political whitewash if there ever was!
Grant T...........try telling the Government are great to the widow of Sgt Roberts, who had to give his BA plates to the infantry...........any other Company in the UK the HES would have a field day with that...........it's called "Duty of care"and it applies to the MOD as well
I'm wondering what pressure was put on Scottish Mp's to side with the Government over the vote last night?

Oh dear. I remember enquiries over leaks about cruise missiles and the Belgrano that cost the leaks their jobs and pensions in the Thatcher era - and quite rightly so. You cannot join an instituition like the MOD, sign the official secrets act and then decide you can talk about what you've seen to a journo. Its part of the deal. As for being under equipped - I absolutely agree that its a bad thing especially so when it costs people their lives. WE've been down this route before from Falklands onwards. I remember being deficient in kit in GW1 with kit robbed from regular and TA units to keep the guys on Granby going, so things dont seem to have changed. :( However, before we hang people by their thumbs in the Tower of London, I find it difficult to flog the defence secretary ( much as I'm tempted ) when 200,000 sets of body armour have "gone missing" since 1999. ( according to an article in the Times ). These were purchased, put in the system and now we cant find them. :cantbeli: 50,000 sets a year awol ? From the forces ? Is it Hoons fault or down to how stores are issued and tracked ?

Sad that the BBC has let themself degenerate from being to most respected news outlet in the world to now being just another politically motivated mudslinger.
Whos running the BBC right now anyway? Whoever it is he should be canned...
One reporter is not the whole BBC! Andrew Gilligan is a wanker. The BBC failed to 'edit' but then it's a radio programme. Besides the panorama documentary about the "Dr Kelly affair" that was shown on the BBC, completely slagged them off and for showing that I think they have shown how honest they can be.
The fact they had disagreed with the government is not bad in itself and it prooves that despite being a public service it is not government controlled. If anything it represented public more than anything.
