And here's a response I posted about it elsewhere:

A Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM with one of these fully loaded (according to the fully loaded weight provided by Beta Systems) is: 19.4 lbs.

An M1A Standard: 19.7

An HK 91: 20.2

A DSA SA58: 19.25

A DSA SA58 OSW: 19.5

Now that's a lot of weight to lug around.

Consider that an M60E4 weights in at 23.1, an M60 at 19.6. The FN M240B comes in at 22.1, and the PKM Pecheneg at 18.1. The Vektor SS-77, essentially a PK variant, comes in at 21.1. The new FN Mk 48 Mod 0 also comes in at 18.1. Someone should try and tell me again what a .308 beta C-Mag offers me.

i need the pucking smily for this topic.

although i believe that the wieghts you listed for the machine guns did not include ammo, so it is a bit misleading.

but c-mag was an abortion all its own, and they have reached an all time low with the 7.62 version.

looks like the only thing this thing is good for is scaring all the democrates within a 100 mile radius. :D

Offers the ability to have your rounds in a more convenient, yet larger heavier and unreliable package.

I've never understood them. ;)

Well from a civilian standpoint, I could destroy a ****load of propane tanks or whatever junk we destroy with that in one of our M14's.

It's a fun item for us recreational shooters who don't mind the weight. I sure would mind the price of 100rds of .308 though. Sheeyit.....

Some of "us" recreational shooters find magazines that cost over 200 dollars and jam frequently to be a waste of money.

If you are paying more than a 50 cents per round for magazine capacity you are getting screwed.
