Jane's Defence Weekly has published this week an article of mine arguing that the US decision to replace their family of 5.56mm small arms provides a rare opportunity to review the choice of calibre. It argues for a comparative evaluation of the 5.56mm Mk 262, 6.8mm Rem SPC and 6.5mm Grendel before a final decision is made.
