Ok well i'm interested to know what other politicians currently in a position to become PM would be seen as a viable alternative by the British members of this board?

For me personnaly then unfortunately i see no alternative but Tony at the moment.

My point exactly. Any politician who turns up with an ounce of respectability and who is willing to at least try to do things well shoudl easily become PM, oh well back to the real world.

gordon brown has respectability, it's just he wants to bring back old labour, which has got to be the dummest political move ever.

Blair is certainly better than Brown, and I can't see Howard making it - I can't see us electing a Jew just yet.

Nope, can't think of anyone.

If no-one mentioned it there wouldn't be a problem, if not now then when?

I don't know maybe I'm being pessimistic, but I can't see many of the old school Tories, or for that matter the hard working Muslim middle class voting for a Jew.

I may be wrong, I have been before...

If she does, two black eyes are pretty likely. rofl

I have to agree with Argyll, Paddy Ashdown would have made a great PM, one of the last decent politicans this country had........

.........as for the current bunch - I don't much like any of them, but I would rather have Howard than the alternatives. Sorry! :bash:

Abi Titmuss for Prime Minister!!

The third way of diplomacy a line of coke and a threesome with her and one of her freinds, it just could work but I dont like the idea of John "Botty Buster" Lesley hiding behind the curtains with a camera and a stiffy ;)

Howard is a Jew, so is Jack Straw, and as a front bench minister he could easily step into the fray as a future candidate for the PM job. The possibility is not too far away...

Also, wasn't Ashdown in the SBS...?

personally I thought Howard was an evil git
after rethinking the fact he's jewish
nah he's still an evil git.
Might see the torys ready for power around 2010 :(
there was a song on dead ringers by Blair entitled won't somebody give me a game

He certainly was, also saw active service in Borneo as a plain vanilla RM officer. Don't reckon he has anything to prove.

haha she actually ran as a candidate for MP in the last general election.

quote from BBC Online

The newspaper (daily star) even sponsored her as a candidate in the 2001 general election which she ran on a "free plastic surgery for all" platform.

Paddy Ashdown would be cool.

Personally, I think Lib Dems would be a good bunch to have in....once everything is sorted out.

They're best suited to maintaining a functional society and would be much better in the long run.

But before then, somebody has to sort out the **** state of the country. New Labour has just been about spin and the quick-fix-wonder-solution. Sorting education and health isn't as easy as shifting grade boundaries and making waiting lists for waiting lists!

Education needs to be sorted from year 1 upwards, so it would take 20 years to get the first graduates from the new system, well after even Tony Blair could hope to stay in! As for Health care, it takes generations to see changes in health; again, beyond the 5 year term.

Nothing's going to get sorted in the political cycle of:

1-Campaign in opposition by promising wonders and slagging off the others.....easy.

2-Get elected on those promises.

3-F*ck the promises...go out and write yourself into the history books.

4-Two years in start making it look on the surface like you are meeting your promises (grade boundaries down, waiting lists moved to other lists...)

5-Call an election after slagging off the opposition and making more promises ("we really will sort public services").

6-EITHER: Get elected (then go back to '2') OR, Get voted out (then go back to '1' and the opposition goes to '2')

Who would I like to see in Power? The Army! Let's go start a coup.

Can you wait till i join before you launch a coup. I don't want to get rounded up as a student insurgent.

Oh and on your list you forgot number 7

7-Make sure you become PM when the public doesnt know who the opposition leaders are. Last night someone was talking about the old Tory leader IDF, i'm still watching for Merkeva tanks to come rolling up my street.
